Occupation purpose: detection of specifics of sociological approach to the personality; studying of structure of the personality; acquaintance to the main concepts of socialization; consideration of agents and stages of socialization; explanation of the status and role concept; correlation of concepts of the social status and role.

Basic concepts: individual, personality, valuable orientations; interests, requirements, modal personality, socialization, agents of socialization, status, social role, role distance, role set, role conflict.

2. Status and roles of the personality. Mechanisms of socialization of the personality.

Tasks and exercises:

1. As you understand the following expressions:

"To develop N. G. Chernyshevsky's o the person in the person".

"To find F. M. Dostoyevsky's o the person in the person".

L.S. Vygotsky's o "The personality is concept social, it covers nadprirodny, historical in the person".

2. Whether you agree with the statement, what in the woman the beginning of identity, and in the man – the personality is more developed? Reason the answer.

How you understand this statement?

4. In real life the set of the moments of humiliation of the person meets. Data of polls testify: even not physical tortures, but moral humiliation are more terrible. Most of all the person is afraid to lose the personality (or himself as the personality). Why?

5. Experts claim: the person who for the first time tried drugs after 20 years, by 30 years already finished addict, but thus remains as the personality. And the child who started being pricked in 13 years, by 23 years as the personality completely degrades (Aif.1994. No. 48). Why?

6. Whether it is possible to agree with the point of view, what the majority of actions of the person is automated and put into certain behavior models?

7. What satisfaction of requirements (according to A. Maslou) was inaccessible to Robinson Crusoe?

8. The German psychologist and the teacher E.Shprangler allocated six main ideal types of the personality according to distinctions of valuable orientations: theoretical personality, economic personality, esthetic personality, social personality, political personality, religious personality. Give examples of such persons.

9. Compare as process of socialization at boys and girls proceeds. Whether there are differences? Consider, by means of what means of socialization and how desirable examples of behavior at representatives man's and female are formed. To what social consequences it leads?

10. The Swiss scientist Ge. Piaget formulated the concept of cognitive (intellectual) development as a chain of consecutive stages of socialization of the personality. Open the maintenance of each stage, having added the following:

1) the situation acquired by the individual in society thanks to its own efforts;

2) the born, inherited status;

3) system of socially significant lines characterizing the individual and doing him unique;

4) process of assimilation of new roles, values at each stage of his life;

5) predisposition of the personality to a certain perception of conditions of activity and to behavior in these conditions;

6) the position taken by the individual in society, connected with certain rights and duties;

7) formation at the child of the speech, thinking, consciousness, assimilation of social norms and values;

8) the mixed feelings endured by the individual connected with simultaneous performance of several roles;

9) the behavior ordered in certain circumstances and expected by other participants of interaction;

10) I. Hoffman's term for designation of ability of the person to distinguish the different roles from itself;

11) Ch.Kuli's concept claiming that the person learns itself, representing that others think of it;

12) people and establishments by means of which socialization of the personality is carried out.

 

Creative task:

1. You should check the abilities in carrying out the sociological analysis. Your parents, the grandmother with the grandfather, brothers and sisters, at last, you will act as object of research. You should make a status portrait of each family member. It is desirable as it is possible in more detail.

2. Carry out questioning and find out:

What period in human life is defining in formation of the personality? Whether purposeful activities of the state for education of the personality serve as confirmation of the stated points of view?

What qualities of the personality:

o most tsenima students;

o cause negative attitude.

What contents students put in the concept "cultural person", "educated person"?

3. Using a sociometry method:

determine by o the leader in your group. Reveal identification of the official and informal leader; study the interpersonal relations in your student's group.
