Dear Helen,
Hi! How's everything going? I really enjoyed your email and I'm glad you like Cambridge.
My city, Barcelona, is a cosmopolitan place situated in the north-east of Spain. There are beautiful blocks of flats, elegant shops and fantastic shopping centres. The people are very friendly. I just love walking along the busy streets and mixing with the city people. Getting around Barcelona is quite easy because there is a metro and lots of buses. Of course, Barcelona, like most big cities, has its problems, too. It can be noisy, with heavy traffic and crowded streets. I don't mind, though. You see, I'm a city girl and I love it.
Barcelona is never boring. There are lots of cinemas, theatres, cafes and restaurants. What I enjoy the most, though, is the sea, and the musicians performing in the streets during summer.
I guess I could talk about Barcelona for days. Why don't you come and spend your summer holidays with my family and me? Write back and let me know.
Take care,
Christina
Dear Helen,
Hi! Thanks for your letter. I'm glad you like Cambridge.
My city, Moscow, is a beautiful place situated in the west of Russia. There are tall blocks of flats, wonderful shops and huge shopping centres. The people are very friendly. I love walking along the busy city streets. It is easy to get around Moscow because there is a metro and bus service as well as trolleys and trams. Of course, like most large cities, Moscow has its problems. It can be noisy with heavy traffic. However, I love the hustle and bustle of the city.
I love living in Moscow. There are lots of things to do there. There are lots of theatres, music clubs, museums and restaurants. What I enjoy the most, though, is going to Moscow Zoo. It is over 100 years old.
I guess I could talk about Moscow for days. Why don’t you come and visit me and see my city for yourself? Write back soon!
Love,
Olga

Writing a letter to a friend about your new neighbourhood
Plan
Introduction
Para 1: reason for writing
Main body
Para 2: what is there to see and do there
Para 3: what you like/dislike about it
Para 3: how different it is from your old neighbourhood
Conclusion
Para 4: closing remarks
Dear Sam,
I'm writing to tell you that I've moved, as you can see from the change of address at the top of my letter.
My new neighbourhood is near the centre of the city, and there is such a lot to see and do. There are lots of cafes and open-air markets, and many of the city's famous theatres, museums and art galleries are here.
I love all the hustle and bustle, and everything is close at hand. Of course there are some problems, such as the constant noise of traffic. It never stops - not even at 3 o'clock in the morning!
My old neighbourhood was very quiet, but it was also rather boring. It's much more exciting here, and I'm really glad I moved.
That's all my news, really. Write soon (to my new address, of course!) and tell me all your news.
Take care
Juan
