Theme: “How much time have you got?”
Main aims:
Educating:
· Introduce and practice different pronunciation of –ed in Past Simple verbs;
· develop to read and understand a text describing a holiday;
· assist to identify words and their meaning in a text and check their meaning in a dictionary: unusual, journey, fall, asleep, whistle, hotel, disappointed, fireworks, fair;
Developing:
· Assist to develop the confidence and competence to communicate effectively in English;
· Assist to develop memory, logical thinking, imagination and attention.
Upbringing: - to help to develop as a person;
· Help to develop the positive attitude to learning English as a foreign language to children;
· Help to join in new social sphere and experience;
· Help to develop skills and abilities in the intellectual work;
· Help to develop how best and useful to spend the holiday.

Organization moment/ Preparation/ Warmer | I. Teacher (T): Good morning, girls and boys! I’m very glad to see you! Sit down, please. - Sing Have you any toothpaste? (Ps sing the song from Lesson 3. Half of the class can sing the girl’s lines and the other half can respond with the grandmother’s lines.) II. Phonics and spelling T. (holds up the phonics cards for walked, waited, and showed one at a time, and elicit the verbs and them how they show these verbs in the past tense.) - How do you show them in the Past tense? - Repeat the words! (Repeat them several times and focus their attention on the 3 different sounds at the end of each verb) T. (put the words in different sides of the room and say the verbs randomly. Ps point to the correct card.) Listen and read - We are going to listen to the 2 texts! · Presentation · | Reading Ex.1 -You are going to write some prompts on the board. (T. writes: where, how, who, how long, what on the board and asks them to read words and ask T questions about Ts holiday.) - Read prompts and ask me about my last holiday! T(asks a few Ps some of the questions about their last holiday.) - Answer my questions: Where did you go? How did you get there? Where did you stay? Who did you go with? Ex. 2 Look at the pictures. What do you know about Finn’s holiday? T.(points to the pictures in Ex.2) T. –Describe each picture and say what is happening in each picture! (T. asks Ps to describe the picture. Elicits words like: train and festival) T. (asks questions to help elicit details of Finn’s holiday.) - Answer my questions! -How did Finn travel? - Where did he go? -What can you see at the festival? | P: Where did you go? III. Practice | I Listen and read T. (tells Ps they are going to read and hear Finn’s letter about his holiday.) - We are going to read and hear Finn’s letter about his holiday. T. (plays the recording once all the way through as children follow the text in their books.) T.(Plays the recording again, pausing at regular intervals.) - Say me what the letter is about? T. (asks simple questions to check comprehension) - Where were they going? -Why did they miss their station? -What did they see? -Was a good start to their holiday? II. Underline these words in the text. Guess their meaning and then check them in the Workbook 4 Dictionary. T. (asks the Ps to read the list and find and underline the new words in the text.) - Read the list and find and underline the new words in the text. T. (encourage children to guess their meanings by looking at the surrounding text) - Try to guess the meanings of the words by looking at the surrounding text. - Look up the words in the Dictionary in the WB T(goes through the meanings of the words with the class) III. Bad and good T.(draws two circles on the board and writes good and bad above each one.) T. (asks Ps to say good and bad things about Finn’s holiday. Writes them into two circles.) -Tell good and bad things about Finn’s holiday. IV. Read again and write T (true) or F (false) T. (asks Ps to read the sentences silently.) - Read the sentences silently. T. (asks them to look at the example and explain that they have to write T(true) or F (false)) - Look at the examples and write T(true) or F (false)! T.(asks to do it individually) T. (goes through the answers with the class) V. Put the phrases from the letter. T. (asks them to close their Class Books and to write these phrases and sentences from Finn’s letter on the board: - Close the books and put them in the correct order and then open the book and correct it! 1I went on the train to Cornwall. 2There was a festival and a fair! 3We missed our station. 4We all fell asleep. 5We saw some fireworks. 6We had to get off at the next station. 7We heard the trains whistle.)
