Last summer I (to go) to France just to see the country. After a few days in Paris, I (to get) bored and (to decide) not to lose an opportunity to visit some other European capitals. Berlin (to be) the most desirable place to visit, so I (to decide) to go there. The only problem (to be) which way of travelling to take, but finally I (to decide) to travel by train to Munich as it (to be) cheaper. So, my trip (to begin).
First of all, I (to have) to find out (мне нужно было выяснить) which railway station I wanted for Germany, but it (to be) an easy task. As soon as I (to arrive) at the railway station hall, I (to go) to the information office to inquire about the timetable. Then I (to have) to book (затем мне нужно было заказать) a ticket for this train.
I (to be) afraid of speaking French as I (not to be) very good at it and I (to be) really pleased to find bilingual ticket offices, where ticket clerks (to speak) English. As I (not to want) to return to Paris, I took a Day Second Class Single to Berlin. It (to be) an inter-city express, but I (to have) to change in Cologne as it (not to be) a through train. I (to have) to hurry up, my train (to leave) in a quarter of an hour, but the platform (to be) quite far from the ticket office.
As soon as I (to find) my car (вагон), a ticket inspector (to check) up my ticket and (to show) me my seat. By the way, the platform (to be) on a level with the floor of the carriage, so it (to be) easy to get on the train. I (to put) my suitcase to the luggage rack and (to take) my seat. The train (to start) exactly on time.
I (to be) in Cologne within 2 hours. Surprisingly, but I (not to be) tired and I (to be) eager to continue my train journey. European train service differs greatly from the Russian one, and I had unforgettable travel experience.
