Kaitlin, why do you want to work as an au pair?

I would love to work as an au pair in order to experience AND share new things and ways of thinking. I cannot think of something that is more mutually beneficial than finding a host family to assist with caring for their children and working on my, the children's, even the whole family's language skills while hopefully being able to feel at home so far away from my native California. I am definitely looking for a family who is searching for more than just an employee.
Generally, I am always excited for a new opportunity to teach and learn.

Some hobbies of mine include: photography, beading, spending time with my friends and family and just keeping myself busy.

I am highly flexible and work well with others.

I love international and domestic travel and adapt well to new environments. I consider myself a cultured and well-traveled individual, and have friends and family all over Europe. I am independent, and beyond a few vacations spent at home, have lived away from my family for the past 4 years. I know it's important for an au pair to be independent and happy away from her family, and it is something I've demonstrated I am capable of.

I swim well, and I have experience with housework in all areas. I love to cook and bake, often with the children!

Ialso quite enjoy theater and dance, painting, drawing, weaving, and various other arts and crafts, and I would love to share my talents and interests in performing and visual/practical arts with your children. Other activities which I enjoy are reading, speaking German, spending lots of time outside, soccer and other sports, spending time with animals, bicycling, and spending time on the water. These are all experiences I would love to share with your children.

I have two dogs at home at my parents' house, and I grew up with two cats as well. I love to spend time with my animals. My dogs are small, but I am comfortable around larger dogs as well.

I am open-minded, punctual, creative, and extremely organized, and I work well with others. I am happy to comply with needs and requirements of parents and families. I look forward to becoming a part of your family, not a household employee!

I love spending time with children, and would be very happy to take a year to look after children and help them grow. I

'm Valerie, a girl that would be happy to live with you and help you with your children in return for getting to know your culture and improving my language skills.

I want to push myself out of my routine and do something I really care about.

Iґd like to work as an au pair because is a great challenge and opportunity to learn more about other cultures, lifestyles, societies and I think this is the best way to do it. Also, Iґm looking foward to become as an au pair because I love children and love to be around them. Trusting in someone else to take care of your children may be a very hard thing to do, however I’m a very trustworthy person and you can rely that responsibility on me.

The best way I have found to resolve conflicts is to talk it through, if needed a time out to allow them to calm down and explain to them why they got in trouble or why what they did was not ok. Activities would always be age appropriate, during the summer I would take them swimming, to the park (which we would also go in the winter), arts and crafts, I have a lot of ideas of games we could play, I would also teach them how to read, write count etc if you would like.

I look to teach my culture to you and your family; I look to learn about your culture and your family; I look to explore your local town as well as close by attractions;

I have spent 5.5 years perusing an education and now I look to take some time to get hands-on experience with culture.

Have you worked as an au pair before?
Casey: "No."

I have lived away from home for 5.5 years and I keep a clean/tidy room. I love animals, so pets are ok for me!

Imagine that you are free for two hours to play with the children. What kind of activities would you have in mind?
Casey: "It really depends on the age of the children. If they are babies, I would help with fundamentals like letters, numbers, colors in a fun way. If they are more mature, I would like to take them on education walks- possibly collecting leaves or nuts and then using a book to figure out the name of each item. However, I am flexible and willing to try whatever you and the children find to be the best activities. I just hope to keep a smile on their face and mine."
What would you do should they not listen to you?
Casey: "I first would like to talk with the parents and make sure that we are all on the same page. The children have to take me seriously or else they will not have respect for me. I look to have a great time with the children and hope to not have to discipline them (time outs, taking away toy, ect.). However, if they are causing trouble, I look to handle the situation calmly in the moment and then speak with the parents as to how to handle the situation if it happens again in the future. This communication will make for a much more stable environment and happier experience for everyone."

Do your family and friends support your idea of becoming an au pair?
Casey: "Yes, they would be very curious to hear of all stories and even meet the family over skype."

Can you communicate well with us and our children (do you master our language)? …........

What are the things you are planning to do in your host country?
Casey: "I hope to get out and explore. I hope that my host family will tell me of some great "must-see" places in their local area. I would like to travel with or without the host family if they see family, friends, or another home. I also look to travel independently to visit other close-by areas."

Q: What do you expect from your stay as an au pair?
Casey: "I would like to make close friends with my host family. I would like to explore the area and embrace the culture. I would like to take many great photographs. I hope to be life-long friends with my host family."
Q: Are you prepared to go on a holiday with us minding the children during this time? Casey: "Yes, that would be fine."
Q: What dishes could you prepare for our children? Casey: "I do like to cook. I make many great chicken dishes. I usually just need a recipe and then I just try."
Q: What is your favorite food? Casey: "Chocolate!!!"
Q: Do you have any allergies against certain foods? Casey: "No."
Q: Are you fit? Casey: "Yes. I try to run about 10 miles per week."
Q: Do you smoke? Casey: "No."
Q: Are you prepared to help with light housework? Casey: "Yes."
Q: Do you have a driving licence which is valid in your host country? Casey: "My driving license is only valid in the United States."

I just graduated from university
