1. What are the advantages of maritime career?(Какие преимущества профессии моряка?)

The advantages of maritime career are: possibility to travel and see the world (возможность путешествовать и увидеть мир), a high salary (высокая зарплата), communication with people of different nationalities (возможность общения с людьми разной национальности).

2. What are the disadvantages of being a seafarer? (Какие недостатки профессии моряка?)

Long time without a family(длительное время без семьи), limited space for several months(ограниченное пространство несколько месяцев), communication with the same people for a long time (общение с одними и теми же людьми долгое время), seasickness (морская болезнь), a lot of risk (много риска).

3. Where can you find information about an education institution? (Где можно найти информацию про учебное заведение?)

The information can be found on the Internet.

4. How is training process at KSMA/ MC KSMA organized?(Как организован учебный процесс в ХДМА?) Every day we have a lining-up(построение) before and after classes. We have 4 double periods (пары) per day. In winter and in summer we pass exams and get credits (зачеты). In the second term of the third course we’re going to have a shipboard training (плавпрактика).

5. Describe your usual working day(Опишите свой обычный рабочий день).

Every day I get up at 6 o’clock, go to the bathroom, wash my face and brush my teeth. Then I have breakfast. After breakfast I get dressed and go to College. We have classes from 08.30 a.m. till 14.30 p.m.

After classes I go home and have a rest. I have dinner at about 6 o’clock. Then I do my home task and play computer games/watch TV/meet my friends/watch films/do sports. I go to bed at about 9 o’clock.

6. Why is it important to learn English? It’s important to learn English, because English is an international maritime language and if I work in a mixed crew, I must communicate in English. I must understand orders, understand different documentation in English, read manuals etc.

7. What is important for successful language learning? It’s important to speak English every day, to communicate with native speakers, to watch films in English, to read English books, to learn new words etc.
