The First Open Festival-Contest of Sacred Music for Amateur and Church Choirs (further referred to as the Festival-Contest) is initiated with a purpose to support president’s policy in the sphere of culture and increasing popularity of choir singing in Russia and abroad. Additional objectives are attracting attention to Russian vocal school, expanding of spiritual music repertoire for church choirs, and developing and strengthening contacts between choral collectives and supporting national choir singing traditions.

These Provisions regulate conducting of the Festival-Contest of spiritual music for amateur church choirs «PETROVSKIYE DNI».

The Festival-Contest «PETROVSKIYE DNI» includes concerts of choral music, master classes of the famous choir conductors, creative communication and meeting with the famous musicians and artists, and the contest per se – the contest for amateur and church choral collectives. The Festival-Contest established in 2015 is dedicated to Thousandth Anniversary of the repose of the repose of Holly Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Prince Vladimir.

THE TASKS OF THE FESTIVAL-CONTEST:

· To present choir culture and performance skills of the amateur choral collectives to public;

· To perform concerts in cultural institutions and cathedrals with the purpose increasing public interest for the culture of spiritual music performance;

· To help the process of creation of the new creative choral collectives, retaining national spiritual traditions;

· To establish creative atmosphere for the professional communication of the Festival participants and to help them exchanging experience.

THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE FESTIVAL-CONTEST:

Russian choirs and choirs from other countries, male, female ad mixed, church choirs (the number of participants is not limited), the age of the participants 18 years or older.

The Schedule of Festival-Contest:

July 9	Arrival of the participants of the Festival-Contest to St. Petersburg Registration of the participants in the Organizing Committee since ____ to _____. The schedule of the participants of the festival-contest will be announced after the end of registrations of participating choirs. The Address: 35 Nevsky prospect, St. Petersburg, Bol’shoi Gostinnyi Dvor, Sadovaya Liniya, 2-nd floor, theatrical-exhibition complex «GostinkaART».
July 10	The program of the Contest of spiritual music for amateur and church choral collectives (see below the provisions). The venues will be announced later.
July 11	The Festival programs of the participants. The venues for concerts will be announced later.
July 12	The participating choirs will take part in liturgies in various St. Petersburg’s temples. Gala concert, rewarding of the participants.

THE PROVISIONS OF THE FESTIVAL-CONTEST:

• The participants cover themselves their expenses for transportation to and from St. Petersburg.
• The participants of the Festival-Contest are accommodated only by the Organizing Committee choosing one of the suggested packages (see below), it is possible to stay in St. Petersburg longer for additional fee, if negotiated with the Committee.

· A choir participating in the Festival-Contest should provide the information about their collective, which will be used for posters, booklets and catalogues of the Festival. Each collective will receive one copy of aforementioned materials as a gift.

· The participants of the Festival-Contest should send audio record in MP3 format, and/or video record in MP4, MPG, AVI formats to the e-mail address: [e-mail]

· Every participating collective receives the diploma of the participant in the Festival-Contest.

• Only the laureates of the Contest will participate in Gala Concert (time limit is no more than 3 minutes);
• Attendance of Gala Concert is required for all participants of the Festival-Contest;

· All the participants of the Festival-Contest will perform as a united choir only one composition – “Petrovskii Cant” (the Organizing Committee will mail the score after participants’ registration), it is required that the participants will learn “Petrovskii Cant” prior to coming for the Festival;

· All participants could participate in concerts of the Festival (one or more); a collective can choose compositions to perform in concerts, total performing time varies from 15 to 20 minutes.

· All events of the Festival will be covered by press, radio and TV channels. Information sent by the participants to the Organizing Committee will be used for advertising the Festival-Contest and in media announcements.

· The delegation could include singers and their attendants. There are no limits for their number.

FOR THE CONTEST PARTICIPANTS:

CATEGORIES:

Category 1 – Male, female and mixed choirs – Participants are male, female and mixed choirs, the singers age should be 18 years or older.

Category 2 – Church choirs – Participants are male, female and mixed choirs, the singers age should be 18 years or older.

THE PROGRAM OF THE CONTEST:

The total performance time in the Contest’s program should be no less than 9 and no more than 12 minutes, including coming on stage, leaving the stage and breaks between compositions.
