Nowadays our life is getting tenser. People live under the press of different problems. They constantly suffer from stress, noise and dust in big cities, diseases and instability. A person should be strong and healthy in order to overcome all difficulties.

Fresh air, a healthy diet (the proper nutrition) and exercises are the basic requirements. If we are taught the basics of staying healthy when we are children, it is easier to look after our health when we are grown up.
Exercises keep the heart healthy which means a good circulation of blood to the muscles and organs of the body. Exercises help our body to get rid of toxins and keep the brain healthy, too. When we exercise, certain hormones are released that make us feel good, these are called endorphins. The state of the body depends on how much time we spend doing sports. Lack of exercise is the serious problem. We spend hours in front of our computers and TV-sets. Few of us do morning exercises. We walk less, because we prefer to use cars or public transport. Researches show, however, that young people who don't take enough exercise often suffer from heart attacks.

Healthy food is also a very important factor. Today we stuff ourselves with fast food — chips and pizzas, hamburgers and hot dogs. We are always in a hurry. We have no time to enjoy a home-cooked dinner with family and friends. We want to eat now and we want to eat fast. What is tasty, is not always healthy. Doctors say that chips and pizzas are fattening, cola spoils our teeth and coffee shortens our lives. If we eat too much, we'll become obese, and obesity leads to the heart diseases, diabetes and other serious illnesses. But the world today is getting fatter and fatter. A balanced diet means having at least five portions of fruit and vegetables daily as well as whole grains. We also need to supply our bodies with a source of protein such as meat, fish or eggs on a regular basis.

Our environment can also affect on our health. If we breathe polluted air, our bodies are put under the stress. Clean air is important to human beings and it is for this reason that we must all contribute to protecting our environment by reducing carbon emissions. When we are in a clean environment we feel good. Therefore we should take care of our environment by keeping it clean and attractive.

To be healthy, people should get rid of their bad habits. It's common knowledge that smoking and drinking can shorten our lives dramatically. Cigarette-smoking, for example, kills about 3 million people every year. Many of them die from lung cancer. Some aren't even smokers. They are people who live or work with heavy smokers. So it’s necessary to stop smoking and drinking much. Everyone should remember that cigarettes, alcohol and drugs destroy both body and brain. Besides according to statistics most of crimes are committed by people under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Generally people that keep up the health, have many advantages. They are taller, have more weight, the organism works.

We all know that the healthier we are, the better we feel. The better we feel, the longer we live. So, why do not we take care of ourselves?
