In the year that Martin Luther stood before the Habsburg Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms, Ignatius Loyola was fighting for the Emperor’s borderlands against the invading French at Pamplona. A cannonball shattered one of his legs. Here his conversion began, and in 1534 he formed the Society of Jesus. In the year 1540, pope Paul III approved the small band as a new religious order. As Jesuits, they vowed special fealty to the pope, placing themselves at his express call. Their new assignments: Convert the heathen, RECONVERT Protestant Europe. By the time that Loyola died in 1556, his order, now 1000 strong, had stemmed the tide of Protestantism in Europe, and had dispatched its apostles to four continents. (All this in a little more than twenty years!)
The following is taken from the Great Controversy:
Throughout Christendom, Protestantism was menaced by formidable foes. The first triumphs of the Reformation past, Rome summoned new forces, hoping to accomplish its destruction. At this time the order of the Jesuits was created, the most cruel, unscrupulous, and powerful of all the champions of popery. Cut off from earthly ties and human interests, dead to the claims of natural affection, reason and conscience wholly silenced, they knew no rule, no tie, but that of their order, and no duty but to extend it’s power. They were inspired to oppose the truth with all the weapons of deception. There was no crime too great for them to commit, no deception too base for them to practice, no disguise too difficult for them to assume. Vowed to perpetual poverty and humility, it was their studied aim to secure wealth and power, to be devoted to the overthrow of Protestantism, and the re-establishment of the papal supremacy.
When appearing as members of their order, they wore a garb of sanctity, visiting prisons and hospitals, ministering to the sick and the poor, professing to have renounced the world, and bearing the sacred name of Jesus, went about doing good. But under this blameless exterior the most criminal and deadly purposes were often concealed. It was a fundamental principle of the order that the end justifies the means. By this code, lying, theft, perjury, assassination, were not only pardonable but commendable when they served the interests of the church. Under various disguises the Jesuits worked their way into offices of state climbing up to be the counsellors of kings, and shaping the policy of nations. They became servants to act as spies on their masters. They established colleges for the sons of princes and nobles, and schools for the common people; and the children of Protestant parents were drawn into an observance of popish rites. All the outward pomp and Display of the Romish worship were brought to bear to confuse the mind and dazzle and captivate the imagination, and thus the liberty for which the fathers had toiled and bled was betrayed by the sons. The Jesuits rapidly spread themselves over Europe, and wherever they went, THERE WAS A REVIVAL OF POPERY. End quote from G.C.
We may today think their influence is dead, but please do not believe it. The Kennedy’s, being Catholics, appointed Jesuits in the American Government. Quoted from Time magazine April 23 1973: -
Father Robert Drinan, onetime dean of the law school at the Jesuits’ Boston College, is now a Democratic Congressman. Another Jesuit, the Rev. John McLaughlin, joined the White House staff in 1971 AS A SPEECHWRITER for President Richard Nixon. End quote. All Jesuits have sworn complete allegiance to the pope, and are still as committed today as what they were when Loyola formed the order 456 years ago; they eat, sleep, live and die with only one thought in mind – the interest and well-being of the pope. Tell me, who is going to benefit by the speeches they write?
Revelation 13
11. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
We remember that his verse tells us about America. And what will America do?
12. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
America will cause everyone to worship the pope (the head of Catholicism), by forcing obedience to the Vatican.
How?
14. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Through deception, Protestant America will follow the example of the Vatican and enforce religious obedience by using the power of the state.
15. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Can we see how the Vatican accomplishes these aims by using the Jesuits in American Government? They now have an even better and deadlier scheme, as we shall see shortly.
18. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Clad in simple white albs, 77 candidates for the priesthood prostrated themselves before the high alter of St. Peter’s Basilica last week as the Supreme Pontiff invoked the blessings of the saints in heaven.
(So here is a group of men, kneeling before a man who is praying to a group of men; this sentence not quoted).
Though the pope ordains hundreds of priests each year, last week’s ceremony was a rite of special significance: 30 of the new priests will serve exclusively within the movement called Opus Dei. This is the third spring in a row that pope John Paul has so honoured the organization: a zealously orthodox network of 74,000 lay Catholics and 1,200 priests spread across 40 nations. Since its founding in 1928, Opus Dei (Latin for work of God) has become one of the most influential, controversial and mysterious movements in Roman Catholicism. John Paul’s first pastoral visit this year was to an Opus centre in Rome. Each Easter evening since his election, the pope has relaxed by having Opus students drop by to sing songs and read their poems. He has encouraged Opus members to such special tasks as opening a new evangelistic centre in Protestant Sweden.
Opus, in turn, offers the church a corps of well educated, disciplined, profoundly committed Catholics who, AS LAITY IN ORDINARY JOBS CAN PENETRATE SOCIETY in ways that priests cannot.
A 1979 Opus memo reported that members around the world work, among other things, at 487 universities and schools, 694 newspapers or periodicals, 52 TV or radio stations, 38 publicity agencies and twelve film companies. In addition there is a global network of administration centres. Members operate the university of Navarre, one of Spain’s finest schools where Opus disciples from many nations study business, engineering and communications. There are also high schools around the world. Houses near 300 university campuses are prime locations for recruiting and preparing new members.
There are three categories within Opus Dei: The leaders are the university educated “numeraries”, about 30% of the membership; “Associates”, 20% “Supernumeraries”, 50% and about 700,000 “co-operators” like 1972 Vice Presidential Nominee Sargent Shriver. Co-operators need not be Catholics, but are sympathizers.
Mortification, an ancient Catholic tradition, was well known in Spain when Opus Dei was born in Madrid on Oct. 2 1928. There are periodically brief sessions of self-flagellation with long braided strings and periods of wearing a type of cilice, a barbed metal band, on the upper thigh.
In some countries, Opus members hold top government jobs especially in education, and control major newspapers and magazines; they have also taught key government and business leaders.
A senior Vatican official says that the pope has asked for private commitments from Opus that it will seek out all levels of society and that it will cooperate with local bishops and other lay movements.
A member of the General Council says: “We are among the most committed defenders of the notion that undebatable truth exists. Doctrine is not debatable and when doubts arise over what is binding truth, the final word is the pope’s and not some theologian’s”.
It is thought that the organization will fill the traditional role of the Jesuits as an elite vanguard ready to do the bidding of pope and church, and that John Paul has important evangelising duties in mind for them. Given Opus Dei’s ideology and its rich supply of disciplined members, such papal commissions would not be at all surprising. End Quote.
This little bit is known about them, but since they operate in secret, what, I ask you, are they achieving at this very moment?
Opus Dei is a far more dangerous movement than the Jesuits in that the members are ordinary citizens, working in any occupation, and therefore incognito. It would be difficult indeed for a Catholic priest to infiltrate the Seventh-day Adventist Church. However, for a member of Opus Dei there is no difficulty at all, since – who would know? Since they are well educated and completely incognito, they would be welcomed into the highest positions of our conference; but where does their loyalty lie? Remember they are as dedicated to the pope as are the Jesuits.
Now tell me; if you were Satan, where would you use this most powerful weapon against Jesus? Would you not infiltrate God’s true church and destroy it from within? Is this not how that “Man of Sin’ will infiltrate God’s House and supersede God’s instructions with his own?
2 Thessalonians 2:
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Let us be honest with ourselves.
God re-established His church (1833-1844) and this period of the church He refers to as Philadelphia in Rev. 3:7. In His letter to the believers at this time who displayed so much brotherly love toward one another, and who awaited His advent with such eager anticipation, God does not condemn anything. He commends them for their faithfulness.
The last period of the church, Laodicea, quickly follows, and this is the period in which we worship. In His letter to us, God has nothing to commend us for. He totally condemns our conduct. Surely then there must be an awful falling away from reverent faithfulness, to irreverent indifference. What has brought this about? Who amongst us is not sparing the flock? Should we not diligently compare our worship with the way our founder members worshipped God a mere hundred years or so ago? Is our worship polluted by an outside source to bring about such total condemnation from God? It would be well for us to get the eyesalve from the Holy Spirit so that we may see. God says that in spite of Him telling us in Rev. 3:17 we still DO NOT KNOW THAT WE ARE WRETCHED, MISERABLE, POOR, BLIND AND NAKED!
Is this dreadful falling away brought about by Catholic infiltration into God’s church? - (They stemmed the reformation, remember!) When Jesus was on earth, His church was so corrupted by Satan that they crucified the very one they were worshipping. Are we in the same boat? Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
Matthew 24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
America is a false prophet being the medium Satan uses to cause all Protestants to apostatise; but what about signs and wonders?
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, (still America)
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, (America, the source of apostate Protestantism).
Revelation 20
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast (Catholicism) and the false prophet (America plus apostate Protestantism) are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Opus Dei has been expanding since 1928. What all have they accomplished in the past 67 years? They operate secretly with total dedication, and Satan knows he has but a short time.
Has God Warned us at all? - Yes, through Paul and Moses.
Acts 20:29-31. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
Deuteronomy 31:29
For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the LATTER DAYS; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
God was telling the church then what would be happening in the church now! We are living in the latter days now.
There was a time during the period of Philadelphia, when believers could be guided by the General Conference:
1875. “I have been shown that no man’s judgment should be surrendered to the judgment of any one man. But when the judgment of the General Conference, which is the HIGHEST AUTHORITY, that God has on earth is exercised, private independence and private judgment must not be maintained, but must be surrendered”. (3T: 492).
The believers at this time had not allowed themselves to be deceived, and were led of the Holy Spirit. It is for this reason that God was able to commend their every action. Now notice the distinct falling away from Philadelphia to Laodicea!
1896. Just 21 years after the above: “Who can now feel sure that they are safe in respecting the voice of the General Conference Association? If the people in our churches understood the management of the men who walk in the light of the sparks of their own kindling, would they respect their decisions? I answer no, not for a moment. I have been shown that the people at large do not know the heart of the work is being diseased at Battle Creek. Many of the people are in lethargic, listless, apathetic condition, and assent to plans which they do not understand”. (Special testimony to the Review & Herald Office.)
(Extract from letter to Elder O.A. Tate 27 August 1896; - same year!)
It is not in the order of God that a few men should manage the great interests throughout the field. Many of the men who have acted as councillors in board and council meetings need to be weeded out. Other men should take their places; for their voice is not the voice of God… These men are no more called Israel, but supplanters. They have worked themselves so long instead of being worked by the Holy Spirit that they know not what spirit impels them to action”.

Those who have not been in the habit of searching the bible for themselves, or weighing evidence, have confidence in the leading men and accept the decisions they make and thus MANY will reject the very message God sends to His people If these leading brethren do not accept them. (T.M. 106,107.)
During the long period of the dark ages, the only visible church was the Roman Catholic church; (the true followers of Jesus had to worship in secret). In 1054 the great schism produced the Western church of Rome and the Eastern Orthodox church. The Roman Catholic church was further fragmented in the 16th century by the reformation, which produced the vast number of so-called Protestant churches of the present day. Out of these, in around 1844, God again established His true church according to prophecy, (The Seventh Day Adventists) calling this period of the church Philadelphia in Rev. 3:7. However, the church, in backsliding, soon became Laodicea – Rev. 3:14, but by the grace of God, a small remnant remains in the remnant.
By forming the World Council of Churches – WCC – the Roman Catholic church is once again uniting all these splinter movements with itself. This confederacy is an unlawful alliance, a conspiracy that will soon unite with the Vatican to enforce the worship of the Pope – Rev. 13:8.
Verse 9 says – “If any man have an ear, let him hear”.
Notice God’s warning to us about this: -
Isaiah 8:9-13.
Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us. For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
2 Cor. 6:14-18. Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
What communion hath light with darkness?
We have been called out of darkness: -

We speak “to the law and to the testimony”: -

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
When we examine the actions of our leaders in the Conference in the light of God’s word, what do we find? Have they obeyed God’s Word?
AUDIENCE WITH POPE PAUL VI By Official Representative of the SDA Church.
On 18 May 1977 Dr. B.B. Beach, secretary of the Northern Europe – West Africa division, with other representatives of the religious bodies which form the Conference of Secretaries of the World Congressional Families, had an audience with Pope Paul VI who welcomed these men as representatives of a considerable portion of Christian people. Elder W Duncan Eva, a vice president of the General Conference of the SDA Church, reported that on this occasion Dr Beach had presented the pope a medallion, which was a gold-covered symbol of the SDA Church (Review, 11 August 1977 p.23.)
Dr. Beach noted that the audience with the Pope marked the first time in history, that the SDA Church, through AN OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE, had met with a Roman Pontiff.
In 1973, the World Council of Churches published a paperback book entitled SO MUCH IN COMMON, which contained “Documents of interest in the Conversations Between the World Council of Churches and the SDA Church”.
Dr Beach co-authored this book with Dr Lukas Vischer, Secretary of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches. As a result of that publication, so little known to Adventist church members, Dr Beach became well known to leading ecumenists of the other denominations.
On page 100 of their book So Much in Common, Beach and Vischer list nine ways in which SDA involvement in the WCC has been of benefit; One significantly states that: Our affiliation in the WCC has brought our Church, officially, into the “World Confessional Families”.
The Vatican Secretariat for the Christian Unity of the Faith reports that: Seventh-day Adventists became regular participants in the Conference (Secretaries of the World Confessional Families) in 1968.
The medallion given to the Pope by Beach on behalf of the Adventist Church, is entirely Roman Catholic in character and symbolism; yet it is stated to be “A gold-covered symbol of the SDA Church”! The inferior gives gold to the superior! This is what the nations of the earth have done for centuries as they journeyed to the Tibor; now we have followed their course! It is disloyalty to God and a defiling act to render a gold present to the man of sin, the son of perdition – (2 Thess. 2:3).
The engraving on the obverse side depicts the resurrection Christ and not the mediating or the returning Christ. This is a typical Protestant-Catholic centrality, for they focus their standing in prayer and their Sunday-keeping on Christ’s resurrection morn, more than any other event in His life, before or after.
He is shown as standing on a cloud from whence issue thunderbolts. The thunderbolts were a favourite symbol of the mystery religions and of the medieval Papacy. In the mysteries it was a symbol of Satan, and issued forth from his cloud. The papal crosier represents a thunderbolt curling out of a cloud.
He is represented as standing on the summit of a mountain with the cloud and its thunderbolts at his feet. The true Jesus will not touch the earth when He returns; as portrayed in Protestant and Catholic artwork, the false Christ does land on the earth. The thunderbolts identify him for who he is!
The angels are facing and worshipping him after he has arrived on earth – rather than being shown as facing the earth as they come towards it. There are eight angels. Eight is a symbol of the Sun day, ever since pseudo-Barnabus proclaimed it so less than fifty years after the bible was completed; (he said we should keep holy the eighth day, not the seventh). The Christ in Rev. 1:16 has seven stars; this Christ has six on each side.
This Christ is shown in the typical Catholic stance, with outstretched arms, as are many of their saint-idol statues. The Vatican painting of the Francis de Assisi portrays him in the same posture. This Christ has no crown on his head; the one in Rev. 19:12, does. The pope has a triple crown; this one has none; he too is symbolically inferior to the pope!
The reverse side of this medallion features the ten Commandments, an empty cross, an unnamed book and all founded on a Maltese cross. This cross beneath the book is a special Vatican symbol. Typically, this has four equal rays flowing outward from a central sun. Each ray expands in width as it radiates outward and terminates in two horns, producing an eight-pointed cross. It is thus a sun symbol in two ways; the radiating sun, and the eight points.
The tenth commandment is hidden, it having been split in two by the Catholics. The Sabbath commandment printed on the back of the medal reads “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy”. But this statement only matches the wording of the “third commandment” after the ten were changed by the pope (Daniel 7:25). When the Catholic church changed the Sabbath Commandment, - what did they change it to? THEY CHANGED IT TO THE EXACT WORDING GIVEN ON THE BACK OF THE GOLD MEDAL THAT BEACH, ON BEHALF OF THE ADVENTIST CHURCH, PRESENTED TO THE POPE IN 1977; nothing has been added and nothing has been left out – it is the exact wording of the Sabbath Commandment as given in standard Roman Catholic catechisms. This wording is acceptable to all the churches since it does not identify it as the seventh day.
Neal C Wilson, president of the North American Division of SDA, in a statement to a federal court in 1976 said that the anti-popery attitude of the church has now been consigned to the historical trash heap.
During July 6-14 1990 our denomination held its 55th world convention in Indianapolis attended by 2000 delegates. John F Fink, editor of the Indianapolis archdiocesan newspaper “The Criterion” wrote: - “The Seventh-day Adventists have a history of anti-Catholicism, like many other Protestant religions during the 18th and 19th centuries. However, the main body of the church has moved away from an anti-Catholic position. The new position of Co-operation with the Catholic church was exemplified by the invitation from the Seventh-day Adventists to the Vatican to send an official observer to the conference”.
Rev. Thomas J Murphy, director of the Indianapolis archdiocesan office of ecumenism acted as the Vatican observer. HE ADDRESSED THE CONFERENCE ON JULY 10
So after God has called us out of darkness INTO HIS MARVELLOUS LIGHT, (1PET.2: 9) we go to TOTAL DARKNESS and invite its observers to bring us light! God has called us out of spiritual Babylon into spiritual Jerusalem: Because of backsliding, we find ourselves worshipping in a church that God is going to spue out of His Mouth – Rev. 3:16.
There is only ONE way to avoid being spued out, and that is God’s way! We are unable to alter the course of our leaders or any one else, but we CAN follow God’s advice – Rev. 3:18. We can anoint our eyes with eyesalve by turning to the Holy Spirit in all earnestness, asking Him to reveal to us the snares that are keeping us captive: We can, by renewed study of the Scriptures, receive from God the faith that will make us rich and enable us to stand when Jesus comes; and we will recognise the abominations done in God’s House: -

And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
James 4:4 “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God”.
“It is a BACKSLIDING CHURCH that lessens the distance between itself and the Papacy”.
