History
In 1943, the first New York Fashion Week was held, with one main purpose: to distract attention from French fashion during World War II, when workers in the fashion industry were unable to travel to Paris. This was an opportune moment, as for centuries designers in America had been thought to be reliant on the French for inspiration. The fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert organized an event she called ‘Press Week’ to showcase American designers for fashion journalists, who had previously ignored their works. The Press Week was a success, and, as a result, magazines like Vogue (which were normally filled with French designs) began to feature more and more American innovations. Until 1994, shows were held in different locations, such as hotels, or lofts. Eventually, after a structural accident at a Michael Kors show, the event moved to Bryant Park, behind the New York Public Library, where it remained until 2010, when the shows relocated to Lincoln Center.
However, long before Lambert, there were fashion shows throughout America. In 1903, a New York City shop called Ehrich Brothers put on what is thought to have been the country’s first fashion show to lure middle-class females into the store. By 1910, many big department stores were holding shows of their own. It is likely that American retailers saw that they were called 'fashion parades' in Paris couture salons and decided to use the idea. These parades were an effective way to promote stores, and improved their status. By the 1920s, the fashion show had been used by retailers up and down the country. They were staged, and often held in the shop’s restaurant during lunch or teatime. These shows were usually more theatrical than those of today, heavily based upon a single theme, and accompanied with a narrative commentary. The shows were hugely popular, enticing crowds in their thousands – crowds so large, that stores in New York in the fifties had to obtain a license to have live models.
What is fashion?
What is fashion, not as fasonchyk, and the system of cultural values, which creates the face of the country in the world? Can a mod Ukraine compete with well-known international brands, countries? This conversation March 20 in "Art Arsenal" during a roundtable on "Fashion and cultural projects - an integral part of shaping the international image of the country." Browse by participants of the round table organized within EuroFashion-2012, expressed the belief that fashion can and should be an integral part of the image of the country, because it is through fashion state may open itself to the world and create your unique face. And along the way Ukrainian fashion has made very big progress.
In his speech, including Irina Danilevskaya, founder and chairman of the organizing committee Ukrainian Fashion Week, said that the domestic fashion has made a huge contribution to the creation of a positive image of Ukraine. This is one of the few areas that can be safely attributed to the successful ones. However, the expert believes that young designers who are largely facing the state, lack of government support. "Fashion Week - a project made mostly by commercial means, but other countries still allocate grants and help young designers" - says Danilevskaya.
Fashion along with cinema and contemporary art is one of the three pillars of the cultural image of each country, says Konstantin Gridin, partner Sonsulting CFS and a member of the development team positioning strategy of Ukraine abroad. Expert says that Ukrainian fashion abroad represented better than fashion CIS. In this aspect EuroFashion is extremely important project to confirm Ukraine's image abroad. "When European designers return to their homeland, they can tell you about Ukraine. According to him, Ukrainian designers have to create English-language website, which would be available to a worldwide audience. So they will be more represented in the international information space "- says Mr. Gridin.
However, the Polish "ambassador" and founder of fashion brand La Mania Joanna Pshetakyevich said that's very important for designers to understand the whole system of the global fashion industry, a major international business where they want to have the status of full membership. "At one time I explored the twentieth century through the prism of fashion. I came to the conclusion that success during fashion coincide with the moment when the country is at the height of its development. It can be said as France, America and other countries. For decades, we can safely assume that fashion has become a powerful tool of influence. From my experience I can say that I myself asked for advice in the great masters such as Karl Lagerfeld, and they helped me. So I can now be represented in the global fashion shows and recognized world. That is the main problem, in my opinion, to understand the system of building successful brands. This just takes a lot to go and learn from the experience of the great masters "- convinced designer.
The roundtable was attended by President founder Ukrainian Fashion Week Irina Danilevskaya, Director of Marina Dedenko Boris Kolesnikov, head of the Public Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olena Yeskina, partner CFC Consulting Constantine Gridin, Russian designer Victoria Andreyanova, Polish designer, founder of the brand La Mania Joanna Pshetakevych, Portuguese designer Maria Gambino, Ukrainian Ambassador fashion design EuroFashion Irina caravan.
Designing often necessitates considering the aesthetic, functional, economic and sociopolitical dimensions of both the design object and design process. It may involve considerable research thought, modeling, interactive adjustment, and re-design.
Meanwhile, diverse kinds of objects may be designed, including clothing, graphical user interfaces, skyscrapers, corporate identities, business processes and even methods of designing.
Another definition for design is a roadmap or a strategic approach for someone to achieve a unique expectation. It defines the specifications, plans, parameters, costs, activities, processes and how and what to do within legal, political, social, environmental, safety and economic constraints in achieving that objective
Here, a "specification" can be manifested as either a plan or a finished product, and "primitives" are the elements from which the design object is composed.
With such a broad denotation, there is no universal language or unifying institution for designers of all disciplines. This allows for many differing philosophies and approaches toward the subject.
The person designing is called a designer, which is also a term used for people who work professionally in one of the various design areas, usually also specifying which area is being dealt with (such as a fashion designer, concept designer or web designer). A designer's sequence of activities is called a design process. The scientific study of design is called design science

The Rational Model
The Rational Model was independently developed by Simon and Pahl and Beitz.
It posits that:
1. Designers attempt to optimize a design candidate for known constraints and objectives
2. the design process is plan-driven,
3. the design process is understood in terms of a discrete sequence of stages.
The Rational Model is based on a rationalist philosophy and underlies the Waterfall Model Systems Development Life Cycle and much of the engineering design literature. According to the rationalist philosophy, design is informed by research and knowledge in a predictable and controlled manner. Technical rationality is at the center of the process.

Schedule
New York City, London, Milan, and Paris each host a fashion week twice a year with New York beginning each season and the other cities following in the aforementioned order.
There are two major seasons per year - Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. For womenswear, the Autumn/Winter shows always start in New York in February and end in Paris in March. Spring/Summer shows start in New York in September and end in Paris in October. Menswear Autumn/Winter shows start in January in Milan for typically less than a week followed by another short week in Paris. Menswear Spring/Summer shows are done in June. Womenswear haute couture shows typically happen in Paris a week after the Menswear Paris shows. For the first time, womenswear haute couture was also shown in Singapore, during its haute couture Women's Fashion Week in October 2011. This was the first time womenswear haute couture shows were held outside of Paris
Over the past few years, more and more designers have shown inter-seasonal collections between the traditional Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer seasons. These collections are usually more commercial than the main season collections and help shorten the customer's wait for new season clothes. The inter-seasonal collections are Resort/Cruise (before Spring/Summer) and Pre-Fall (before Autumn/Winter). There is no fixed schedule for these shows in any of the major fashion capitals but they typically happen three months after the main season shows. Some designers show their inter-seasonal collections outside their home city. For example, Karl Lagerfeld has shown his Resort and Pre-Fall collections for Chanel in cities such as Moscow, Los Angeles and Monte Carlo instead of Paris. Many designers also put on presentations as opposed to traditional shows during Resort and Pre-Fall either to cut down costs or because they feel the clothes can be better understood in this medium.
Some fashion weeks can be genre-specific, such as a Miami Fashion Week (swimwear), Rio Summer (swimwear), Prêt-a-Porter (ready-to-wear) Fashion Week, Couture (one-of-a-kind designer original) Fashion Week and Bridal Fashion Week, while Portland (Oregon, USA) Fashion Week shows some eco-friendly designers.

Salvatore Ferragamo
Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 in Bonito, near Avellino, the eleventh of 14 children. After making his first pair of shoes at age nine, for his sisters to wear at their confirmation, young Salvatore decided that he had found his calling. He always had a passion for shoes. After studying shoemaking in Naples for a year, Ferragamo opened a small store based in his parent's home. In 1914, he emigrated to Boston, where one of his brothers worked in a cowboy boot factory.
After a brief stint at the factory, Ferragamo convinced his brothers to move to California, first Santa Barbara then Hollywood. It was here that Ferragamo found success, initially opening a shop for repair and made-to-measure shoes, which soon became prized items among celebrities of the day, leading to a long period of designing footwear for the cinema. However, his thriving reputation as 'Shoemaker to the Stars' only partially satisfied him. He could not fathom why his shoes pleased the eye yet hurt the foot, so he proceeded to study anatomy at the University of Southern California.
After spending thirteen years in the United States, Ferragamo returned to Italy in 1927, this time settling in Florence. He began to fashion shoes for the wealthiest and most powerful women of the century, from the Maharani of Cooch Behar to Eva Peron to Marilyn Monroe. He opened a workshop in the Via Mannelli, concentrating his efforts in experimenting with design, applying for patents for ornamental and utility models and some related inventions. Ferragamo was always recognized as a visionary, and his designs ranged from the strikingly bizarre objet d'art to the traditionally elegant, often serving as the main inspiration to other footwear designers of his time and beyond. Salvatore Ferragamo died in 1960 at the age of 62, but his name lives on as an international company, which has expanded its operations to include luxury shoes, bags, eyewear, silk accessories, watches, perfumes and a ready-to-wear clothing line. At his death his wife Wanda and later their six children (Fiamma, Giovanna, Fulvia, Ferruccio, Massimo and Leonardo) ran the Ferragamo company.
His most famous invention is arguably the "Cage Heel. Fiamma (Salvatore's eldest daughter who died in 1998) inherited her father's inimitable talent and came up with the "Vara pumps" in 1978.
The company is currently owned by the Ferragamo family, which in November 2006 included Salvatore's widow Wanda, five children, 23 grandchildren and other relatives. There is a rule that only 3 members of the family can work at the company, prompting fierce competition To ease these tensions, in September 2006 the family announced a plan to float 48% of the company on the stock market, and since October 2006 Michele Norsa has served as managing and general director. However, as of January 2008, this plan may be on put on hold in the midst of the downturn in the financial market. If the listing on the stock market proceeds, the fund will be directed primarily towards building its positions in China. The company is holding its 80th birthday exhibition in Shanghai

Provincial Councils on fast, affordable and enjoyable shopping in London. TKMAXX-American chain stores, beloved by all Russian. What is good? Is different from the English shop that you can find many continental and American clothes. More natural fabrics, interesting designs. Shopping at these stores like hunting or lottery, you never know what will fall! Shoppingovat is necessary so: just take a cart and throw it all that much. If you linger or solve everything first look, and then choose, then this thing can never find, could be unique and in other stores it also will not be. So throw in the cart all that has attracted less! And if suddenly caught in two sizes, then take both, of course, if honey them small difference. When look at all or are simply forces will not, then looking again or go directly to the fitting room, she makes the final selection. TKMAXX Hammersmith pretty big, so soon as you enter go straight to the end of the hall, there 2-3 racks of marked down-bright red and a yellow sticker on the price list. You can catch something very decent for a nice price. My advice - start there. In TKMAXX also sold men's, children's clothing, tableware and home decoration. It is best to go directly to TKMAXX Hammersmith. Hammersmith Station Line Hammersmith & City.Nayti easy-going forth of the subway, cross the road and take a little to the left, most people go there. Immediately see a vertical white sign on a red letter TKMAXX. There find and Primark. The cheapest chain stores, but do not let that bother. Shops-scary popular due to the crisis attract large number of buyers. You can find some very interesting things, to the same collections are updated very often and that on sale today, tomorrow can be sold in all stores. It should also go to the central Primark on Oxford Street - it is very large. Better to go there in the morning, in the evening just to break through the crowd and have a long queue at the fitting room.
