UNAREC
SPRING CAMP
U01 Raw earth- ecoconstruction in MadOnArts 16/05-30/05/2015 envi/reno +18 8 vol.
The project: For 2 years, our regional organisation in the South West of France has been organisaing workcamps with the MadOnArts association. We have one main project on this eco-site: to restore and valorise the Raw Earth built heritage of the South of France. We will mainly restore the bakery oven of Noganets.
Works: In 2015, our work will be to finish the wall in 'pisé' which we started in 2014. The pisé is a technique of construction using rammed earth, like the 'bauge' (clay and straw mortar) or 'torchis' (wattle and daub). To use it, you create big wooden boxes. You press and compact earth with water in the boxes until you get a very compact mix.
You will work approximatively 6 hours a day with our technical leader.
COMPULSORY: For safety reasons and hygiene reasons, you need to bring your own safety shoes (first price safety shoes are enough) and working gloves.
Activities: You will work around 6 hours a day to restore the building. The rest of the time, the campleaders will offer several activities, entertainment and outings. It is expected of each of you an active involvement to develop and live comfortably the tasks of daily life (kitchen and camp maintenance...) as well as activities of cultural discovery. Be creative! You will experience a life group! This project is focusing on education to eco-citizenship through practices such as waste sorting, making a compost and the use of dry toilets. Eco-citizenship is a stakeholder in this little corner of paradise, the area of MadOnArts.
Location: The association MadonArts will welcome you in a small village called Noganets, which is part of the town of Puygaillard de Quercy, in the south West of France.
http://madonarts.blogspot.fr/p/blog-page.html This association organises workshops of personal development and permaculture in this very beautiful site.
Accommodation: In tents. (there will be a big room to sleep in case of rain) Pay attention that we try to be very respectful of the environment in MadOnArts. You will use and maintain dry toilets. There are showers near by the camping site.
Special Requirements: For the intercultural evening, bring gastronomic specialties from your country and pictures, music... Anything you want in order to present your country and culture. If you are a musician, bring your instrument! If you are an artist or and artisan, show us your beautiful skills!

UNAREC ADULT WORKCAMPS
Usually we host 12 volunteers on each of our workcamps (9/10 international volunteers +2/3 French participants) but some projects are open to 8 volunteers only.
On our adult projects you work about 30 hours per week; most of the time you don’t work on week-ends, but it might happen for different reasons.
In our workcamps, all activities are decided together with the volunteers and the camp leaders. You will live an experience in a group and things are planned within the group.
The languages spoken on our workcamps are English and French, except on specific international French speaking camps (indicated in the description).
Every day life: the group will organise teams so that everybody can participate in the cleaning, tidying up, and preparation of the meals… do not forget your recipes!
Activities: on your arrival, leaders will propose several activities; but your ideas are welcomed and everything can be discussed. So be imaginative, the workcamp is a place for having fun! We don’t expect you to do activities on your own, going to visit friends living nearby or going alone to watch a movie!
Leading team:camp leaders are not there to manage everything; they advise volunteers, suggest various activities; they are also a link between the different actors of the workcamp: the organising association, the project sponsor, the local population and the volunteers. Our camp leaders are usually staff paid, but we also host volunteer co-leaders
Age Limit: 18 years old minimum –no maximum;
We accept 17 year old participants if they already have had a volunteer experience and if they are mature enough to join an adult project (a motivation letter is necessary for minor volunteers)
On each project we open 1 or 2 places for people facing social or psychological difficulties (like living in orphanages or in specialized institutions). Be aware that these volunteers are expected a lot from a workcamp experience; it is for them a big adventure and good contacts with International volunteers are really important for them.
Insurance: our association covers the volunteers from the first to the last day of the project (civil liability, personal accident, assistance repatriation). Our insurance does not cover lost or stolen objects, or illness (except those due to accidents).
Volunteers from the E.U countries MUST bring a European Health card to cover their cost (replacing the E111 form) (medical, pharmaceutical and hospitalisation cover).
No advance of money will be given to them.
Our adults camps have no extra fees
