Contextual Module # 1 European Educational Integration

 

Theme 1. European Integration of Ukraine as a Factor of Socio-Economic Development of the State

1. European Choice of Ukraine – integral part of its development.

2. Chronology and General Overview of the events to establish cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.

3. Adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to the EU legislation – one of the most important instruments to create in Ukraine the new legal system and civil society.

4. Scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.

5. Entry of Education and Science of Ukraine into the European information and education space as an essential factor for economic, social, intellectual, technological innovation and cultural development.

Theme 2. Systems of Higher Education in the States of Europe and America

 

1. Formation of higher education in European countries.

2. Modern principles and objectives of higher education in developed countries.

3. Access to public education. Educational institutions. The level of education. Qualifications. Training, academic year and examinations. Methods and teaching aids. Training of foreign students.

 

Theme 3. Bologna Process as a Way of Integration and Democratization of Higher Education in European States

1. European integration as a social and economic process.

2. Chronology of the Bologna process. Involvement of European states in the Bologna process. Basic documents of the Bologna process.

3. Creating the European Higher Education Area.

4. Priorities of the Development of Bologna Process for 2012 – 2015.

Theme 4. Main Tasks, Principles and Stages of the Formation of European Higher Education Area

1. Harmonisation of the architecture of European higher education as a primary goal of the Bologna process.

2. Distinguishing features of European higher education: quality, competitiveness of European higher education institutions, mutual trust of the state and universities, compatibility structure of education and qualifications; mobility of students, attractiveness of education.

3. The main objectives and principles of creating the European higher education area (six goals of the Bologna process): introduction of two-cyclic training, introduction of credit system, the formation of quality control of education, expanding mobility of students and teachers, ensuring graduate employability and attractiveness of the European education system.

4. Further actions to achieve six objectives of the Bologna process: adoption of clear and appropriate steps; taking two cycle system of education, introduction of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) or other compatible systems which are able to provide a differential distinctive and accumulation functions; to promote mobility of students and faculty (remove obstacles to free movement of students and teachers); ensuring high standards of higher education; promoting the European approach to higher education (the introduction of programs, courses, modules with "European" content); training for life; the common work of higher education institutions and students as competent, active and constructive partners in the establishment and formation of the European higher education area.

 

Contextual Module # 2 The Adaptation of the Ukrainian Higher Education System to the Requirements of Bologna Process

Theme 5. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)

1. Characteristic features of ECTS. Basic elements of the system: information (on study programs and student achievements), mutual agreement (between partner institutions and students), the use of ECTS credits (determining student workload). Basic ECTS documents: information package, learning agreement, transcript of records.

2. Terms of use of the ECTS. ECTS credits: structure, purpose, connection with the academic load student (hour sessions). Features of the appointment and assignment of ECTS credits. ECTS Coordinators: academic coordinator, faculty coordinator. The content and structure of the information package of the institution, faculty, academic discipline, content credit.

3. Structure of the course given the degree (structural scheme, the curriculum). Description of the course subject. Description of course discipline.

4. The Scale of ECTS evaluation. Compatibility of different assessment systems with the scale of ECTS.

 

Theme 6. Principles, Ways and Means of Adaptation of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in the Ukrainian Higher Education System

1. Reconciliation and combination of the national components of higher education in different countries with the requirements of the Bologna process for establishment of the European higher education area.

2. Trends in higher education in Ukraine today. Differences and similarities of higher education in Ukraine and European states.
Background entering of the Ukrainian higher education to the Bologna process: adaptation of legislation, structural changes in education, the introduction of the higher education system of the European Credit Transfer and accumulating system (ECTS), pedagogical experiment on introduction of the credit-modular system of learning in universities of the III - IV levels of accreditation.

3. Main objectives to create conditions for the introduction of credit-modular system of educational process in universities of the III - IV levels of accreditation are: development of structural logic of training in all fields and professions; the introduction of modular educational system; systems of testing and rating in the process of students assessment; organization of educational process on the basis of training programs, which are formed as a set of credits; introduction the deadline learning curriculum, including the deadline for budget financing; an introduction of the new generation of industry standards for higher education; the development of individual charts for educational process with the peculiarities of credit module educational system; improving the existing and creating of the new educational, logistical and information support learning in a credit-modular system of educational process; the formation of training programs for all educational qualification levels based on educational qualifications and characteristics of graduate education and professional training programs, which include possible changes in the ratio of the volume of credit education and professional training components; the introduction of the institute of tutors to the individual training programs.

Theme 7. Introducing of the Credit-Module System in the Process of Education in Ukrainian Universities

1. Main measures for preparation and application of pedagogical experiment on introduction of the credit-modular system of learning in the universities of the III-IV levels of accreditation.

2. Development and experimental verification technology of the elements of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulating System (ECTS) in Ukrainian Universities and a modern quality management system of educational activities of the educational process.

3. Organization of educational process in the Ukrainian Universities. The concept of credit-modular system of educational process as a model of the educational process.

4. The structure and requirements for preparation of the main components of ECTS: information package, learning agreement between student and institution of higher education, academic information. Formulation and implementation of individual learning plans for students. Control of the students’ individual curriculum.

5. Forms of training within the Credit-Module System in the Process of Education in Ukrainian Universities. Organizational methods of the Credit-Module System. Control of student assessment and the scale of students’ academic achievements. State certification of students. Rationing of students’ and teachers’ workload. Features of transfers, allocations, renovation and students interrupt of their studies. Scholarship support of students.
