A. Course Description Content and Objectives of the Course
The Main Academic Aim of the Course is to make familiar students with:
· the main directions of states’ activity in the field of the formation of European Higher Education Area;
· tasks, principles and documents, which were adopted within the framework of Bologna Process;
· methods and facilities of their implementing to the higher educational system of Ukraine.
Objectives of the Course. As soon as the effect of the learning process can be defined as a period of changes of student’s attitudes, knowledge and skills, it is expected that participants of the course will be working under:
· the formation of the fundamental presentations about major principlesof the European Integration in Higher Education;
· the critical assessment of Bologna Documents.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
· apply interdisciplinary approaches in studying the course materials;
· recognize and distinguish the national (cultural, confessional, ethnic) appearance of states-participants of the Bologna Process;
· discuss different aspects of social, economic and legal consequences of the harmonization processes in the sphere of higher education in Europe.
B. Course Format
The course accounts on 36 hours of instructional period during the 9th (or 10th) semester. The class will take place one time a week. For total course will take 17 weeks. First two-three weeks will be devoted to the overall introduction of the course and presentation of the Strategy of Creation of the European Higher Education Area. During the next two weeks students will discuss the main characteristics of higher educational systems in European and American States. The subsequent classes will be focused on practical aspects of adaptation the Ukrainian System of Higher Education to the Bologna Standards (introduction of the three cycle system, quality assurance, recognition of qualifications and periods of study).
