Our College

A. They say “Give a man fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him for life”. So education is very important nowadays especially because it helps young people to be successful in carrier, to develop their personality and make their way in society. This is ensured by the broad development of compulsory secondary education, vocational and special secondary education, and higher education.

B. I study at the Higher State College of Communication. I’m very proud of being a student of this college. It was founded in 1930 as Minsk Electro-Technical School. Its foundation was caused by the rapid development of technology of radio- and telecommunication. The time passed and with the development of latest computer techniques the need for qualified technical staff in the field of communication appeared. So, in 1993, it was reorganized into the Higher State College of Communication.

C. The system of education in our college is quite new for our country. At the first or middle level you can get a secondary special education. If you study well you will be allowed to pass exams and enter the higher level. There you will be able to get a higher education. College graduates can continue their education in Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio-Electronics or Belarusian National Technical University.

D. Our college is patronized by the Ministry of Communication and supplied with all modern equipment and fresh information. For our classes we have two buildings and three hotels to live in. So in our college we have all the opportunities to get good education and to become skilled specialists. There are many well- equipped laboratories, auditoriums, and computer rooms, library and reading hall. In the library, one can find all necessary academic and reference literature. You can borrow manual books here. The opportunities of carrying out experiments using the latest equipment and making observations help the students to acquire valuable scientific knowledge and explore new ideas. Students get practical training during the industrial technical practice in the basic city establishments. The teaching stuff of the college consists of professors, lecturers and tutors. They give lectures, conduct seminars and have tutorials with the students in various subjects. Students sometimes complain that they are given too much homework but if you plan your day well, you can manage it without much difficulty. The college provides a hostel where students come from other towns live.

E. It is very difficult to enter our college and it is not very easy to study here. But I feel that it is my cup of tea and I try to do the best to become a good specialist.
