Transport Policy

The ITF is in the process of developing a core body of trade unionists and friendly academics with expertise in Transport Policy. The Transport Policy Experts Group aims to challenge current conservative ideology on transport policy at national, regional and international level and equip both affiliates and the ITF Secretariat with a factual and theoretical basis to deal with the World Bank, the OECD and other international institutions and regional economic groupings. Membership of the Group is open to all interested ITF-affiliated unions. Sympathetic organizations and members of the academic community are also to be invited to participate in the work of the Group. The Policy Group is charged with developing an ITF Academics’ Network, made up of individuals dealing with specific subjects or sectors. The ITF Secretariat provides co-ordination of the Network and maintains a database of its members.
