Всего лишь к представителям одной-двух наций англичане испытывают нечто вроде родственных чувств. Например, они поддерживают тесные связи с австралийцами, хотя их смущает некоторая несдержанность последних, и с канадцами, которые, правда, представляются англичанам людьми, озлобленными постоянными снегопадами и чрезмерной близостью к Америке.

Американцы им, в общем, нравятся и нравились бы еще больше, если б не кичились так своим АМЕРИКАНСТВОМ! Англичане считают американцев тоже англичанами, только превратившимися во что-то не совсем понятное в результате неудачного стечения обстоятельств и всеобщего недопонимания. И, разумеется, американцы были бы счастливее, если б только у них хватило ума повернуть вспять. К тому же, тогда бы они точно снова заговорили на ПРАВИЛЬНОМ английском языке!

С недоверчивым восхищением наблюдая по телевизору участников бесчисленных американских ток-шоу, англичане обвиняют американцев в том, что под их тлетворным влиянием падает уровень английской культуры.

Однако, поразмыслив как следует, они приходят к выводу, что с американцами все же следует поддерживать хорошие отношения – хотя бы во имя коммерческой и политической выгоды. Что, впрочем, совершенно не мешает англичанам постоянно сравнивать обе страны и, конечно же, не в пользу Америки. Но, в конце концов, Англия ведь старше!
