Type 1 diabetes (hyperglycemia, autoimmune)

Feel stressed about choosing what to eat several times a day. | Simplifying sweeteners | Watch out for hidden sugar | Blood sugar regulation and your overall health | Natural USE SPARINGLY | HOW YOUR BODY PROCESSES IT | ADDITIONAL RESOURCES | To 4 tablespoons of a fat or oil is a serving for men. | HIGH INTENSITY EXERCISE | YOU ARE UNIQUE |

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system self-attacks pancreatic beta cells and destroys them, rendering them incapable of producing insulin. A large percentage of those with Type 1 Diabetes have undiagnosed Celiac Disease and may go on to develop Hashimoto’s (autoimmune thyroid condition).

symptoms include:

Inability of pancreatic beta cells to produce insulin

Weight loss and malabsorption with excessive thirst

Generally diagnosed in children following infections that trigger autoimmunity

Often correlates directly with Celiac Disease and related symptoms

Type 2 diabetes (hyperglycemia)

symptoms include:

Abdominal adiposity (belly fat)

Weight-loss resistance despite doing “everything right”

Fatigue, especially post-prandial (after meals)

High blood glucose

Poor blood markers in cholesterol (low HDL, high LDL), high triglycerides, high HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin), and increased C-Reactive Protein (systemic inflammation) measures

Loss of appetite/impaired appetite signaling

Loss of lean muscle mass

Carbohydrate cravings

Refer to the symptoms listed for hypoglycemia as they may be present in a Type 2 Diabetic.

Secondary symptoms include: Metabolic syndrome, irregular periods (duration, type of flow, etc.), Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), cardiovascular disease

Other populations who may benefit from this meal plan include those diagnosed with:

GESTATIONAL DIABETES

METABOLIC SYNDROME

HORMONAL IMBALANCES (PCOS, INFERTILITY, ETC.)

You may also use this meal plan as a first step intervention before using the plans created specifically for neurological conditions, depending on how advanced they have become:

ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE (see here)

PARKINSON’S DISEASE (see here)

diet & lifestyle recommendations

add [ + ]

FAT

Many people experiencing dysglycemia patterns are unnecessarily avoiding fats and increasing carbohydrates in the diet, which contributes further to these conditions.

PROTEIN

Protein to satisfy appetite for longer periods of time (meals focused on both fat and protein will help).
