Wujiang Road Food Street
The original food street (Wujiang Lu Xiuxian Jie) may have been replaced by a more sanitised pedestrian area in the run up to the World Expo, but when it comes to snack food, Wujiang Rd has still got the goods. If you can beat the mealtime rush, the first spot to go scavenging is the multistorey building at No 269 (above one of the West Nanjing Rd metro exits). Down at street level, you’ll find plenty of cafes, ramen chains, ice-cream vendors and stalls selling more-traditional snacks like roasted chestnuts. Also look out for the famous Japanese treat takoyaki (ball-shaped octopus waffles) at No 122, and Korean noodles and bibimbap (a rice bowl topped with seasoned vegetables and an egg) at No 200.
