Household chores

There are certain things in life, which you have to do whether you like it or not. One of such things is household chores, doing which is a necessity. It’s what someone in the family has to do every day in spite of his wish or desire. You can hardly find a person doesn’t like comfort, delicious food, clean and tidy clothes, delicious food, clean and tidy clothes. All these things need somebody’s attention and doing them is called ‘housework’.
I can’t say that I’m a messy person, but I like to have my things at hand, especially when I’m studying. I think that it’s only a waste of time to put things in their right place each time I’ve used them. But my mother doesn’t agree with this and she makes me do my room at least twice a week. Unfortunately, we have different views on this problem. She’s crazy about having the place clean and tidy with everything in its right place. So I have to clean my room rather often for not to drive my mother into despair.
Our family is not very large. We are four in a two- roomed flat. Most of the household duties revolves round me mother, nevertheless every member of our family does his bit about the house. I think that’s right, because it males household chores less difficult and boring. Moreover, it proves the proverb “Many hands make light work”.
It goes without saying that I have some household chores. There are some things I have to do about the house. For instance my regular job is to sweep all the dust off the floors with a large broom. I have to do this every evening. Moreover, I usually wash the dishes after dinner and make my parent’s bed when they are in a hurry for work. I must admit that these are probably the kinds of housework I most hate doing.
I’m not lucky enough to have my own room. I share it with my younger brother who is a very messy person. So besides putting my own things into places, I have to do the same thing with my brother’s things. But my little brother also has his duty and not the most pleasant ones- he has to take the rubbish out of the house.
Going shopping is my father’s duty. He does it with pleasure and our family is always provided with a great amount of all necessary and unnecessary food. Very often my father sends me shopping. Going on short shopping is probably my favorite chore. I’m really crazy about going to the supermarket where I can buy everything I need in the shortest possible way.
Once a week my parents give the flat a big clean. If I’m not very busy I help with it. While my parents are vacuum-cleaning the carpets and polishing the furniture, I am washing the windows. Then my mother begins ironing the closes and my father goes to wash his car.
I don’t do much washing as we have a washing machine. And I think I can’t but mention the role of technical progress in our lives. We have a washing machine, a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven, a hand mixer, a toaster and a coffee- maker. All these things I consider quite necessary, because they make our life easier and help to solve a lot of problems in the shortest possible way.
Some people say that housework is boring and, besides, it takes a lot of time and energy. In my opinion the best way to do many things about the house is by taking this as physical exercises or just one more chance for reconsidering all your problems. Agatha Christie, for example, was thinking over the plots of her new books when washing the dishes up.
Frankly speaking, housework never looks encouraging to me though I have to do it from time to time.
