a trap formed at the time the sediments

containing it were actually laid down rather

than by subsequent tectonic processes

Unconformity

a tectonic feature in which strata are

eroded and subsequently overlaid with

younger strata (sometimes angularly),

which are said to lie unconformably on

the older strata, the actual boundary

between the two sets of strata

Boom

a structure used to support a pipeline

during laying (see stringer) or to confine

an oil slick (see containment boom)

Structural trap

a trap produced by the distortion of

once-horizontal strata by some tectonic

process(es)

the stand of piping that carries the kelly

a solid obtained by the condensation

of vapor without passing through the
