The patient may be placed on the table before or after administering anesthesia. The patient should he as comfortable as possible. Operation area is disinfected. Disinfectants are tincture of Aden & picric acid, alcohol. The surgeon knowing that so much depend upon his skill is working under strain & tension. The nurse is the person who must think quickly & logically, be scurpulosis & conshienshis. All instruments are sterile. Operation room should be clean, well & tested to see that they work properly & seem,

Sterilization is the complete destruction of all forms of medical life, including spores, viruses, parasites & fungi. Sterilization is apish by exposing material to dry, to the action of various chemical agents including some genie or to various types of radiation. There are 3 basis methods of sterilization in hospitals:

1. Wet heat

2. Dry heat & ethylene oxide gas

Polyclinic

A person, who isn’t well, may consult a doctor at the outpatient department. There are various specialists working at the polyclinic such as internist, oculists, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, cardiologists, gynecologists, psychiatrists, & pediatricians. A person, who is not quite well, consults a physician for various complaints. He may complain of weakness, fever, temperature & all kinds of pains & aches, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, some kind of heart trouble may complain of shortness of breath.

A working day of district doctor begins at 9 o’clock at the polyclinic. Usually doctor’s working day consist of:

1. Consultation of the patients at the polyclinic

2. The Doc. makes his daily round of visits to the district. If the patient follows the Doc. orders he well recovers.

My working day & day-off

My name is Kosacheva Ulyana. Now I’m a 2^nd year student of the FESMU. Every day I’ve much interesting & necessary work to do. I live in a hostel. I share room with 2 girls Nastya & Galya.

My working day begins at 7.25 o’clock on weekdays. I get up, make bed, go to the bath-room, clean teeth & wash face. After I dress myself, brush hair & do make-up. Then I’ve a breakfast. For breakfast I usually have a cheese sandwich with a cup of coffee. At 10 past 8 I go to the Univ. on foot. It takes me 10-15 min.

Our classes begin at half past 8. Usually I’ve several practical classes & one lecture. In this academic year I attended lectures in Normal Physiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Histology & others. I always attend lectures. My classes over about at 3 o’clock. 2 days on a week I go 2 vocal group. After lessons I go to the hostel. When I come, I’ve dinner & begin to do my homework. At 1 o’clock I take a shower & go to bed.

In this term on Saturday we’ve 2 practical classes (English & Philosophy) & lection on philosophy.

So one my day-off is Sunday, because only on Sunday I can get up at 12 o’clock) When I get up, I make my bed, go to the bath-room, and then have a dinner.

About 2 o’clock I begin prepare my h/k. Sometime I & my friends watch films, go for a walk. Cut a long story short every my day-off is different)

What is the shock?

Shock may occur in all serious injuries. Shock is a depressed state of the circulatory system. The state of shock may vary in severity from mild symptoms to a complete circulatory collapse & death.

Symptoms include^ pale, cold, moist skin, rapid & shallow breathing: rapid or weak pulse & vacant stare. The victim complains of great weakness. He may feel faint, dizzy & nauseated.

Never wait for shock to appear! Keep the patient lying down, with his hips & feet raised about 18 inches, warp him in a blanket, and give a solution consisting of banking soda, table salt & water. Make sure he’s conscious before giving anything by mouth.

Burns

The Burns are damages of fabric, caused by high temperature, chemical material, radiation, electric current. All burns do on surface and deep, selecting 4 degrees.

The Burns 1 degree are characterized hyperemia and edema struck to surfaces. The Victim feels burning sensation.

At burn 2 degrees exist small bubble with the plasma. Around bladders - hyperemia; is present the burning sensation.

At burn 3 and 4 degrees are noted necrosis of the skin. It has a typical brown color. After deep burn can be impressed muscles, bones, fat. These burns present the danger for life.

The 1^st aid consists of:

1 degree - washing by cool water, ice bag, burning unguent. Full recovery - through 5-6 days.

2 degrees - washing by cool water until will subside the pain. It is not allowed to poke bubble, use oils & fats. Recommended apply a bandage in which are entered anesthetics & bactericidal medicinal preparations.

In case of 3 and 4 degrees - a contamination & loss to liquids are risked. Need use elastic bandage, give drinking.

Frostbite

Frostbite is an actual freezing of tissue. There are body parts which most subject to frostbite: the ears, nose, hands & feet. In case of frostbite the body should be warmed by applying blankets, apply wet compresses to a frozen noce, face, or ear, & call a doctor. Never allow to rub or massage the skin.
