The FESMU

The Far Eastern State Medical University is the oldest higher medical school in the Far East. It was set up on May 24, 1929. The 1^st director of the Institute was Professor Nicolay Dmitrievitch Bushmakin. At this time were 6 chairs, 16 teachers & 106 students.

What is the FESMU now? Its 7 faculties (medical-prophylactic, Pediatric, dental, pharmaceutical, medical-humanitarian, pharm. (secondary professional education) & prophylactic dental (2^nd p.ed.)) & medical college, where nurses & pharmacists are trained.

1. The medical-prophylactic faculty is the largest. It trains primary-care physicians, i. e. general practitioners, surgeons, & physicians-biochemist.

2. The pediatric faculty was organized in 1958. The 1^st dean of the faculty was A. G. Roslyakov. Pediatricians are trained at the faculty.

3. The dental faculty was set up in 1979. It has an own clinical base “The Uni-Stom”

4. The pharmaceutical faculty was organized in 1964. It trains pharmacist.

5. The youngest faculty is medical-humanitarian. It was set up in 2010. It trains managers, economist-managers, clinical psychologist, and social workman.

At present there are 64 chairs & 2 research laboratories at the FESMU.

The course of training at the FESMU is 6 years at the medical-pr. & ped. faculties. The students of the dental, pharm, & mad,-hum, faculties are supposed to study 5 years.

Our Univ. has 3 own hostels & some clinical bases (The Uni-Stom, clinic of household medicine & university drugstore).

Administrative staff or the FESMU consist of the rector, prorectors & deans.

I’m a medical student

I’m a student of the FESMU. It’s very interesting to study in this university, because we learn a human body & it’s metabolism. I like my sallow-students & some of teachers. I very like to take an active part in Univ.social life! From the first course (2010) and on present time take part in different action, has won in contest "Miss FESMU 2011", monitor vocal groups "Nadegda", member of "Advice of the student home rule". This helps me to get acquainted with new people and well spend time. I pay great attention to anatomy, biochemistry, physiology. I visit the different pars of our Univ. I expect to go to home for winter & summer vocations, because I very miss my parents. I like to study in the FESMU, but it’s very difficult.

An education person is one who knows a lot about many things. I think it’s very important, that everyone should he educated. Each pupil ought to do his best to become a self-member of our society. Education is very important in our life. Going on educational excursions gives us opportunities to acquire some scientific knowledge. In the Russia Federation is compulsory. Many pupils begin to go to school at age of 6. When they complete high grades they can continue to study at school 2 years or go to professional school, where they study main & professional subjects. After school pupils may go to institutes & universities. There are many types of school in our country: specialized, polytechnic, musical, art & other. Today appears some new types of schools: gymnasiums & colleges.
