Дерево в качестве источника биоэнергии человечество начало использовать одним из первых. У людей особое, можно сказать, душевное отношение к костру. Сказываются века использования древесины в качества источника тепла нашими предками. И при этом на протяжении всех этих столетий и тысячелетий до 19 века никого особо не заботили выбросы в атмосферу углекислого газа. Но с развитием промышленности экологическая ситуация на планете ухудшается и уменьшение выбросов в атмосферу углекислого газа и других веществ становится одним из приоритетных.
Чтобы в связи с вырубкой и сжиганием леса не увеличивалось количество углекислого газа в атмосфере, необходимо, чтобы засаживалось деревьев не меньше, чем вырубается для выработки энергии. Таким образом СО2 будет абсорбироваться новыми саженцами. Также уменьшению выбросов в атмосферу углекислого газа способствует применение специальных котлов, которые оборудованы катализаторами для снижения СО2.
