My Students also speak from the Bhagavad Gita

So in the Bhagavad-gita, everything is explained very scientifically, not, I mean to say, a sentimental explanation. No, logically, scientifically. | Prabhupada: Everyone will have to take Krsna's book first to prove their authority. | One has to understand Bhagavad Gita as Arjuna understood it | So in the Bhagavad-gita there is perfect instruction. And if we take it as it is and follow it, then we become perfect. | So all science of God is described in Bhagavad-gita. | Bhagavad-gita is the authorized book to teach people how to love Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. | To summarise the conclusions of Bhagavad-gita it may be said that, | Krsna purifies the devotee who constantly engages in hearing of Him | You should read Bhagavad-gita As It Is carefully verse to verse and word to word, and you will be benefited | But practically I have experienced that this Krishna Consciousness Movement or to present the philosophy of the Bhagavad-gita as it is can solve all problems of the world |

Yes, generally we chant this mahamantra, Hare Krsna, and then we deliver speeches from Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, and then there are questions, we answer, and in that way the audience and the disciples they become enlightened and they advance…The students are being trained. The students, they also speak the same thing. There is nothing new. I also speak from the Bhagavad-gita and the students also speak from the Bhagavad-gita. The Bhagavad-gita is the same in all the centers. But it may be because I have little more experience I can explain them a little more nicely. And the students, they also explain according to their experience. But the principle is the same.

The audience of Bhagavad Gita

So Bhagavad-gita is not very high class Vedic literature. It is just the entrance, ABCD of Vedic literature. ABCD, entrance. Just like matriculation examination, school-leaving examination, then you enter into college, and then get your graduate, become a graduate, and then post-graduate, so the Bhagavad-gita is just entrance for, entrance examination for spiritual education. It is not very... It is written for the common men, common men, common men, householders, less intelligent men, woman class, like that.

(Lecture Bhagavad-gita 3.17-20 New York, May 27, 1966)

The dogs, he cannot put this inquiry. A dog, he thinks that he is dog, that's all. He is jumping, he is barking, and eating, sleeping, and having sex. That's all. If I ask one dog, "Please sit down. Hear Bhagavad-gita," it is not possible. But you are human being, if I ask you, "Mr. such and such, sit down, hear from the Bhagavad-gita," you can do that. First of all we must know the difference between dog and me. The dog is incapable to understand Bhagavad-gita. But human being... Just like we are selling this book in the Western countries, many millions of copies, because they are human being. We are not selling among the cats and dogs.

Hari-sauri: They say "I don't mind to die. As long as I can just finish up one or two things first, then I don't mind."

Prabhupada: (laughs) Death will wait for your finishing? Death will come, it will not wait. People have become less intelligent, mudha. The general description is given in the Bhagavad-gita: mudha, naradhama. Human intelligence requires to understand these problems, but because they are mudha, and lowest of the human, simply like animals, eat, drink, be merry and enjoy. Naradhama. You do not solve the problems. Simply like animal, dancing. So go on reading.

Actually, study of the Bhagavad-gita is the only source of understanding what is the secular state. Krishna is the source of all human cultural contributions, and His book is the most widespread read all over the world.

(Letter to: Giriraja –Sydney:12 April, 1972)

To understand the Vedic philosophy, you have to tax your brain. Just like Bhagavad-gita. Take, for Bhagavad-gita. It is accepted as a great book of philosophy all over the world. And... Now wherefrom this brain came out. Apart from accepting Krsna as God, take it, the language, take the language, the philosophy, the thoughts. How great they are.

It appears that the talk between the master and the disciple was openly exchanged in the presence of both armies so that all were benefited. So the talks of Bhagavad-gita are not for any particular person, society, or community, but they are for all, and friends or enemies are equally entitled to hear them.

Bg 2.10 P Contents of the Gita Summarized

Human beings even in the lower statuses of life (a merchant, a woman or a laborer) can attain the Supreme. One does not need highly developed intelligence. The point is that anyone who accepts the principle of bhakti-yoga and accepts the Supreme Lord as the summum bonum of life, as the highest target, the ultimate goal, can approach the Lord in the spiritual sky. If one adopts the principles enunciated in Bhagavad-gétä, he can make his life perfect and make a perfect solution to all the problems of life which arise out of the transient nature of material existence. This is the sum and substance of the entire Bhagavad-gétä. (BG Introduction)

Higher education is not meant for everyone. Only selected individuals trained in brahminical culture should be allowed to pursue a higher education. Educational institutions should not aim to teach technology, for a technologist cannot properly be called educated. A technologist is a çüdra; only one who studies the Vedas may properly be called a learned man (paëòita). The duty of a brähmaëa is to become learned in the Vedic literature and teach the Vedic knowledge to other brähmaëas. In our Kåñëa consciousness movement we are simply teaching our students to become fit brähmaëas and Vaiñëavas. In our school at Dallas, the students are learning English and Sanskrit, and through these two languages they are studying all our books, such as Çrémad-Bhägavatam, Bhagavad-gétä As It Is and The Nectar of Devotion. It is a mistake to educate every student as a technologist. There must be a group of students who become brähmaëas. Without brähmaëas who study the Vedic literature, human society will be entirely chaotic.

21. Bhagavad-Gita is not different from Krishna:

Of course, in transcendental sense, when we acquire that transcendental sense, we see Krsna through this Bhagavad-gita. The Bhagavad-gita is Krsna. Bhagavad-gita is not different from Krsna. That is the, I mean to say, sense of absolute knowledge. In the absolute world there is no difference between the person and the words.

(Lecture Bhagavad-gita 4.9-11 New York, July 25, 1966)

They cannot understand the Absolute. God and God's word are not different. Otherwise, why we are after Bhagavad-gita? Because Bhagavad-gita is the words of God. So as good as God.

22. “There is no difference between Krsna's statement and my statement”:

Yes. I am simply explaining what Krsna says in the Bhagavad-gita. I am acting on His behalf. I am acting on His behalf. Just like Krsna says that there is no more higher authority than Him. I am speaking to my students: "There is no more higher authority than Krsna." So, in other words, there is no difference between Krsna's statement and my statement.

Conversations 730810r2.par

Yes. You can associate with Krsna by reading Bhagavad-gita. And these saintly persons, they have given their explanations, comments. So where is the difficulty? Everyone is helping you.

23. Bhagavad Gita and the Vedas:

The Vedas deal mostly with fruitive activities to gradually elevate the general public from the field of sense gratification to a position on the transcendental plane. Arjuna, as a student and friend of Lord Krsna, is advised to raise himself to the transcendental position of Vedanta philosophy where, in the beginning, there is brahma-jijnasa, or questions on the supreme transcendence. All the living entities who are in the material world are struggling very hard for existence. For them the Lord, after creation of the material world, gave the Vedic wisdom advising how to live and get rid of the material entanglement. When the activities for sense gratification, namely the karma-kanda chapter, are finished, then the chance for spiritual realization is offered in the form of the Upanisads, which are part of different Vedas, as the Bhagavad-gita is a part of the fifth Veda, namely the Mahabharata. The Upanisads mark the beginning of transcendental life.

Bg 2.45 P Contents of the Gita Summarized

Whatever is spoken by the Supreme Lord is accepted as Veda. As stated in Bhagavad-gétä, vedänta-kåd veda-vit: the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the compiler of all Vedic knowledge, and He knows the purport of the Vedas. Therefore, anyone who takes knowledge from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kåñëa, or from Bhagavad-gétä as it is, knows the purpose of the Vedas (vedaiç ca sarvair aham eva vedyaù [Bg. 15.15]). One cannot understand Vedic knowledge from the veda-väda-ratäs, who read the Vedas and misconstrue their subject matter. One has to know the Vedas from the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

(SB 8.24.61 p)

Every Vedic scripture will advise you. You take this Upanisad or that Upanisad; the ultimate is Gitopanisad. The final, Gitopanisad. Yes, Gita is Upanisad. Yes, Gitopanisad. So Gita is the substance and summary of all Upanisads, and Upanisads means Vedas. That is the Vedic knowledge.

Conversations 751217mw.bom

Bhagavad-gita is also known as Gitopanisad. It is the essence of Vedic knowledge and one of the most important Upanisads in Vedic literature. The objective of the Vedas is to know Krishna and the Bhagavad-gita is the essence of all Vedic instructions.
