BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

I am a consultant, coach, and organizational development practitioner who specializes in helping individuals, organizations, and systems achieve greater levels of effectiveness.

Especially concerned with multicultural issues and values, I am the originator of the Diversity Circle Dialogue Method, a discussion group format on diversity. The Diversity Circle Dialogue Method has been used by Princeton University, the New Jersey State Supreme Court Task Force on Minority Concerns, The American Association of University Women, the Hoechst Celanese corporation and elsewhere as a means of building community and nurturing the development of multicultural teams and task forces.

As a coach, I specialize in working with leaders, entrepreneurs, and individuals in transition. I am the co-founder of the Diversity and Spirituality Network, an emergent community that explores the diversity and spirituality nexus through workshops and symposia.

An accomplished writer, my work has been published in more than 100 newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The National Catholic Leader, The National Leader, New Realities, East-West, The Tokyo Journal, Atlanta Magazine, and Princeton Alumni Weekly.

I've also appeared on numerous television and radio networks, including CNN and the Associated Press Radio Network, plus has written regular columns for publications that include The Atlanta Constitution, Nouveau and New Frontier.

Charles Reade (June 8, 1814 - April 11, 1884) was an English novelist and dramatist.

He began his literary career as a dramatist, and it was his own wish that the word "dramatist" should stand-first in the description of his occupations on his tombstone.

As an author, he always had an eye to stage-effect in scene and situation as well as in dialogue.

He made his name as a novelist in 1856, when he produced It's Never Too Late to Mend, a novel written with the purpose of reforming abuses in prison discipline and the treatment of criminals. He described prison life in a way that is sometimes tedious and revolting; but the power of the descriptions is undeniable.

It was characteristic of Reade's open and combative nature that he admitted the public freely to the secrets of his method of composition. He spoke about his method in his prefaces.

His works serve as an atmosphere of reality in which he worked, so that his novels are like pictures painted in the open air. Even in his novels the development of character is shown through a rapid progression of significant facts; it was probably in writing for the stage that he learned the value of keeping the attention of his readers incessantly on the alert. On the other hand, his view of human life, especially that of women, is almost brutal; his knowledge of frailties and vices is overwhelming.
