I. Transform the sentences according to the model.

5. Mother prepared her child to the dentist’s visit. They went to him on the appointed date.

6. The dentist filled in my tooth. I left the office.

7. Dr. Brown checked all the tools. He started the examination.

8. The dentist washed his hands. He started checking patient’s mouth.

9. Peter cleaned his teeth. He left the bathroom.

10. The dentist’s receptionist finished printing. Somebody knocked at the door.

 

II. When Dr. Jones returned from the conference, his receptionist showed him her report what the staff of their new clinic had done and hadn’t done by his arrival. Use the report to ask the questions in Past Perfect and answer them as in the model.

Model: – Had the receptionist registered all calls by Dr. Jones’ arrival? – Yes, she had.

1. the book keeper – to prepare the report on expenses for equipment +

2. the receptionist – to send the advertisement to the local newspaper –

3. the assistant – to set up a new computer program +

4. the receptionist – to order new office furniture –

5. the nurse – to check all medical tools +

6. the assistant – to test a new drilling machine –

7. the receptionist – to inform clients about new clinic’s address +

8. the assistant – to design the brochure for the clients –

  The Future Perfect Tense вживається для позначення дії, що завершиться до певного моменту або до початку іншої дії в майбутньому. He will have taken X-ray before the dentist fills in his tooth. I shan’t have taken X-ray by that time tomorrow. Will they have taken X-ray by the afternoon?

 

III. Put the verbs in the brackets in Future Perfect.

1. I (to go) to the dentist by this time tomorrow.

2. They (to learn) everything about oral hygiene after their next visit to the dentist.

3. By 6 o’clock tomorrow she (to take) her X-ray.

4. Our dentist (to give) us necessary information by the end of this month.

5. The dentist’s receptionist (to order) tools by the end the month.

6. We (to discuss) prices and goods by 5 o’clock tomorrow.

7. The doctor (to look through) the patient’s file before the treatment.

8. The dentist (to check) the patient’s gums before making prescription.

 

IV. Make up the questions using Future Perfect and answer them as in the model.

Model: What/Cathy to do/by Monday? (to type the invitations)

– What will Cathy have done by Monday? – She will have typed the invitations.

1. What/Ella/to do/by 4 o’clock/on Monday? (to call the dentist’s office)

2. By what time/the nurse/to prepare the instruments? (by 9 a.m.)

3. Who/to set up a new drilling machine/by Thursday morning? (dentist’s assistant)

4. What/Dr. James/to treat/by Wednesday? (patient’s decayed tooth)

5. What/Chris to do/by 11 o’clock/on Tuesday? (to consult his dentist)

6. By what time/Clara/to get/the information on this medicine? (by next week)

7. Who/to get/a complete examination of the teeth/by Thursday? (my brother)

8. Where/dentist’s assistant/to place/an X-ray machine/by Thursday evening? (in the corner of the consulting room)

V. Open the brackets using Present, Past or Future Perfect.

1. You (to come) home by 8 o’clock tonight?

2. She (to take) her child to the nursery school before she went to the dentist.
