An assistant to a Liberal Democrat MP in the House of Commons is facing deportation after being arrested on suspicion of being a Russian spy. Russian Katia Zatuliveter, a 25-year-old assistant to Portsmouth South MP Mike Hancock, was arrested by security services last week. She is suspected of working for Russia’s foreign intelligence service, the SVR, according to reports. According to The Sunday Times, Home Secretary Theresa May had approved the removal of Ms Zatuliveter after being briefed by MI5 about her alleged activities. Ms Zatuliveter was reportedly arrested by police and Border Agency officials last week and is understood to be being held at a secure facility awaiting deportation to Russia.
