1. Go to the official website of the airline

1. Choose dates and destination

(put a tick in the field “flexible dates” if the exact dates aren’t crucial for you – it helps you to find better offers and cheaper prices)

1. There are not so many direct flights from Eastern Europe so you may need to make a stop at the connection airports, for example Frankfurt-Hahn, Düsseldorf- Weeze, Brussels- Charleroi, London (all airports),Manchester, Milan- Bergamo, Budapest, Tampere

From these airports you will always find a connection to all the other destinations.

1. If there are no flights available for the chosen dates it can mean two things: either the flight is booked out or the company has different operation dates. In the first case there is nothing left but to try other dates or to book well in advance (the best time is 2-3 months before the flight), in the second case you should check operation dates/ schedule (if it’s possible)

1. After choosing a flight you will be asked some special information and requirements:

- if you want to have priority boarding

- if you want to have extra luggage (besides hand luggage)*

- if you want to buy an extra travel insurance

- if you want to reserve a seat

- if you want to receive a confirmation of your flight details

- if you need some special assistance

- if you want to add some special infant/ musical/ sport equipment

- if you want to buy something or use some special deals offered by the website (car rental/ hotel booking/ rail&fly program etc.)

Don’t forget to deny all of these offers if you don’t need them and to agree with terms and conditions

It’s extremely important that you put your actual data from the passport. Even one letter difference between your name on a ticket and in the passport may cause a problem.

Some airlines don’t ask your passport number and any other data besides your name before checking-in, others do

Low- cost airlines work with credit/debit cards only. It means you can buy tickets online only, all the classical debit/credit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are working if only they have a CVV-code on the opposite side. Usually it’s safe enough to use these cards over internet.

While completing the payment procedure you may be asked your address and zip- code, try to remember the one you gave the bank that issued you a card. In case you don’t remember it try to put your actual one.

1. Failure of payment

In case of payment failure you have to check your bank account to make sure you have enough money and your e-mail. If you haven’t received any confirmation per e-mail it means that you don’t have a ticket. Extremely rarely it happens that that money transaction succeeds but you don’t get your ticket. In this case you have to contact customer support.

When your payment succeeds you receive your ticket (a code) to your e-mail account. You must check-in online (it depends on the company but usually it’s from 14 days to 2 days) and print out at home your boarding card. If you check-in at the airport you will get a fine up to 100 euros. Some airports even don’t offer such a service.

It is very important that you print it out in advance and go to the airport with the boarding pass because the ticket itself (the code) doesn’t mean anything.

1. At the airport

Having a boarding pass means you can arrive at the airport and proceed directly to the gates. This is how Europeans travel nowadays; Russians usually have to pass a visa-check before. It can be either at the baggage drop or at the special visa-check counter of your airline.
