Salutations to the Lord, embodied as the first letter “Na”, of “Nama Shivay” Mantra. He who wears a garland of snakes, who has three eyes. He who is decorated with ashes, His body, the great God, the eternal pure-One, who has the directions of the universe as His dress.
I bow down to Him in the form of the 2nd letter “Ma” who is dressed in a lion skin. The mountain King to whom all wealth belongs, being the Swami of all the three worlds, holding the name of Tripurant kaya.
Prostrations to Shiva in the form of the 3rd letter “Shi”, who eliminated poison by keeping it in his throat, the destroyer of Daksha’s sacrifice and whose eyes are sun, moon and the fire.
To whom the Gods and the great sages like Vasishtha Agastya and Gautama always pray and worship. I bow down to the blue necked Lord, embodied as the letter “Va”, the 4th letter of Namo Shivaye.
Prostration to that ancient naked God, embodied as the letter “Ya”, the Yaksha incarnate, who is pure, nude and eternal. Whose hair is long and matted and who holds Pinaka in his hand.
Hari Om
Sri Pancharshar midam strotram, ya pateth Shiva sanidho
Shiva lokam vapnoti shiven saha modhate
Whoever chants this prayer, composed with five holy letters, before Lord Shiva, attains that supreme abode of His and enjoys there with Him in eternal bliss.

To Shiva Shankar, the Swami of Gauri, we bow to him who has the Ganga in his dreadlocks. To Rudra Pashupati, the Swami of all beings, to the God of Kashi Benares, has three eyes and is always in bliss. The God with the blue throat, we bow to his feet. To You the slayer of all demons, putting an end to all sufferings. You are the protector of your devotees. Please finish the circle of birth and rebirth. Always praise and sing His name, Shiva Hare Shamb.
I salute Shambu, Lord of Uma, the Guru of the Gods. I salute the cause of the Earth. I salute the One ornamented with the serpent.

Master of all beings and I salute the One with sun, moon and fire as His eyes. I salute the lover of Mukunda. I salute your devotees. I bow to Shiva Shambo.
O the tongue sings and praises Lord Vishwanath, the Lord of ashes, of Badri, Kedar, Bhimma, Shankar, Veshnath, Nageshwar, Rameshwara, Omkar, Mamleshwara, Mahakal and Malikaarjuna. Meditate on the God with three eyes, the Lord of Somnath and Manisham.
Praise Shiva with eleven names.
Sing the praise of the Lord with the moon on His forehead, with a necklace of snake, in his hand the skull of Brahma, whose consort is Devi Gauri, Lord with three eyes, wearing a mala of rudraksha around His neck. Praise to Lord Shiva, who has bound the Ganga, with all its waves, in His matted locks. Sing the praise of God Nilkantha, O Vishwanath along with all siddhas, to Shiva and Parvati, who protects all beings.
The river Goddesses of Ganga Sindhu, Saraswati, Yamuna, Gaudavari, Narvada, Kaveri, Saryu, being the body of Mahindra, the Charmanyati, Vedika, Shipra, Vetravali, Maha surnadhi and Gandika. These forms of holy water, along with the ocean, will lead us to liberation.

We bow to Shiva, who is of meditative appearance, wearing the garlands of snake, the Lord of the universe, transparent like a crystal, pure, nude and eternal, beloved of Gauri, capable of being reached through meditation by Yogis. Prostration to Shiva, the Lord of all beings and all worlds.
We bow to Vishnu, who is of peaceful appearance, reclining on the serpent, with a lotus growing up from the navel, Lord of Gods, the base of the Universe, vast like the sky, coloured as the cloud, auspiciously limbed, beloved of Lakshmi, lotus-eyed, capable of being reached through meditation by Yogis. Prostration to Vishnu the Lord of all beings and all worlds.
Even if Goddess Saraswati would use a sword to flatten the mountain, use the sea as ink and a branch of Sundra’s Kalpa tree as a pen, writing for ages on the paper of the earth’s surface –it would not be enough to complete the praise song of the Lord’s qualities.
