For some teenagers who have to work for their family having a work is a certain thing. And sending your child to work ask yourself what is more important to you: good education and teenager’s health or some cents which exactly will not make your wallet fatter?

In the modern society, it is very common to see teenagers working everywhere in the city. Almost two-third of today’s high school students hold part-time jobs, and nearly all students have a job before graduating. Whatever part time jobs they are doing, they are preparing for their future. School may be the best place for proper education but not for preparation for the outside working world. Indeed, teenagers learn a lot of things through the jobs they do when still being students. Occasionally we do not notice when carefree children transition to responsible adult who start reflecting about their first pocket money and satisfaction of own requirements. Researchers are reevaluating the rosy perspective they once held on teen employment. Although they still believe that jobs can help teens learn to manage their time and earn money, other people are concluding that, in many cases, teen jobs do more to foster bad grades than to advance the work ethic.

Firstly, holding a part-time job can remove a little stress from parents’ wallet. Teens love beautiful cars, name brand clothing, the latest sports equipment, stereos, computers and cell phones. Maybe this sounds like the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” to you, but to many teens in the 21st century, these are the things they must have. Since these items are on the expensive list, many teens feel that having a part-time job is not so bad; it will pay for their expensive lifestyle. Parents also think so. Well-known, that not every family can boast of the salary. Quite often a financial position of the family needs help from every family member. In this case holding by a child a part-time job would be very useful. It is not a question of that child will give all the salary to parents. However, at least he will be able to satisfy own requirements. Perhaps parents don’t have to pay for teen’s gas anymore, or his i-Tunes download. Earning money will enable your child to buy the extra things wanted and teach responsible money management. Even if he is not making enough money to pay his way through college, he is helping take some of the financial burden off of you, specifically for perks like dinner and a movie out with friends.

In addition to the added income, there is no doubt that teenager has a great opportunity to gain some professional skills. Undoubtedly, in the list of the most important professional skills managing finances on the first place. Most individuals do not truly appreciate a hard-earned dollar until they have earned it themselves. Certainly, a young worker will spent light-headedly all his first-earned money on entertainment and useless things. However, eventually, he will begin to understand the value of time he spent to earn money and he will start doing small deposits. And, as Emily Payet points out, holding a job gives teens spending money over which they have complete control. "It just gets tiring after a while to ask your parents for money all the time. It's better having your own money. That way you can do what you want with it." (Morantz, 2001, p. 1). And, step-by-step, it will slowly teach a teenager to time management ability. Combine work and study and also find some time for family and friends can be difficult even for adults. It is exactly that object which working teens must do. The time teens spend on the job is generally time they don't spend on criminal activity or dangerous forms of recreation. Another important quality is marketable skills. It is not just salesmanship. It is improving their communication, learning how to handle people, developing interview skills and filling out job applications. All these skills make it possible to instill new confidence, sense of responsibility and independence.

But at the same time young workers have to have some problems with organization of study and life in general. Youth and inexperience tend to make teenagers especially vulnerable to workplace injuries and other safety hazards. Having a job reduces a time sleep. It has an impact on productivity both at work and at school. Less time for study leads to poor grades, poor grades lead to pressure from teachers and parents. It is a cause of great stress and, sometimes, mental disorders. Research seems to suggest that students that work 10 hours or less a week gain the benefits of employment, while students that work over 20 hours a week suffer the negative consequences of work mentioned above (Blake, 2010, p. 2). The work may give new acquaintances. Some of them can badly affect a teenager. There is a great possibility to get into a bad company in our time. Coworkers may "educate" teens about alcohol, drugs, and other high-risk activities; extra spending money may encourage them further. Finally, acute shortage of time and a lot of stress can be a cause of negative view about work. Earle entry into a negative or harsh work environment may encourage hostility to work. This would depend greatly on the maturity level of the teenager and the type of job obtained.

As a result although holding a part-time job can be a cause of many useful and professional skills like time management, earning money, etc..., some parents and just people are concluding that, in many cases, teen’s job leads to increase of uneducated workers and it may hurt the psyche of the child. For some teenagers who have to work for their family having a work is a certain thing. And sending your child to work ask yourself what is more important to you: good education and teenager’s health or some cents which exactly will not make your wallet fatter?
