Exercise 9. Read the recipe and translate it into Ukrainian.

Aubergine Parmesan

1 large aubergine 1 tablespoon chopped onion

1 pound minced beef salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoon oregano 8 ounces mozzarella cheese

12-ounce tomato juice 2 teaspoons grated

Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon fresh chopped basil

1 clove garlic, crushed

About half an hour before cooking, peel skin from aubergine and slice it. Brown meat

in a pan, add tomato juice, basil, oregano, garlic, and onion. Add pepper, and salt

if desired. Coat a casserole dish with cooking oil and layer, alternately, meat sauce,

aubergine, and mozzarella. Finish with meat sauce and sprinkle Parmesan over the

top. Bake at 350 degrees until aubergine is soft, about 35 to 45 minutes.

Exercise 16. Write a letter to your friend about a traditional Ukrainian dinner. Follow the instructions:

• describe a traditional Ukrainian dinner

• spesify the shopping list of the things you will need to buy

• characterise in detail the dishes you will cook

• write a recipe for your favorite dish.
