In the previous section we discussed the organization of HMI-based operator stations. In most cases, the stations are set centrally in the control center (operator), covering one technological installation, production facility, and sometimes the whole plant.

However, often required to provide local control points in place. This approach allows staff working in close proximity to the process equipment, carry out effective monitoring process and local control. Indeed, passing the cabinet I / O, a specialist technologist, probably would want to look at the sensor readings and, if necessary, to make some adjustments (for example, change the temperature setpoint). Do not run the same every time the central control room!

Elegant and modern solution, replacing the old push-button control panel, is to use the operator panel of local monitoring and control (operator panels).

Operator panel is a compact, a computer with built-in LCD. To implement the control functions are provided with panel pushbutton control units and / or touch screens (touch screens).

Typical panel provides the user with the following features:

1. Visualization of process parameters in a text or graphical mode.

2. Control and processing of emergency communications, registration date and time of emergency communications.

3. Manual operation using function keys or touch screen.

4. The possibility of free programming schedules and setting of function keys.

5. Charting and trend display of summary reports.

In the graphics mode imaging process takes place through interactive pneumoschemes is very similar to those discussed in the previous section, only more compact (this is due to the limited resolution of the screen). In text mode, the process is displayed in the form of lines or, in the best case, in the form of special tables. Obviously, the text format data is not enough visibility and informative, so the text panels are used less and less.

The hardware architecture of the panel is arranged in the likeness of conventional personal computers, but instead of the hard disk using Flash-memory. A typical panel consists of the following hardware components: a 32-bit RISC-processor, memory SDRAM small size, built-in Flash-EEPROM memory to store the OS and the accumulation of user data, the various expansion slots and interfaces to connect the programmer and / or data network.

Some major characteristics of the operator panels are:

1. The type and size of the screen. The screen may be different resolution, ranging from a tiny 128x128 and finishing with an impressive - 1024x768 (the last comparable with office ACS TP). The screen may life as a monochrome and color, and the number of displayed colors may vary from 16 to 16 million, of course, all these parameters affect the readability of information.

2. Control. There are not many options: either with the help of a transparent touch screen, affixed to the LCD screen, or with functional buttons and a pointing device located on the front side. Chance and combined version.

3. Number of supported network protocols. Modern panels have built-in support for multiple communication protocols, for example, Profibus DP and Industrial Ethernet. And the buses of data panels can act, and as a master, and as a slave.

4. The degree of protection. For the frontal part - it is usually, IP65, for the rest of the case - IP20. Most importantly, the degree of protection is the front part that is connected with a singularity of installation.

5. Processor speed and amount of built-in Flash-memory. These characteristics determine the maximum amount of application software visualization, and integrated circuits display. Features panel indirectly depend on this characteristic.
