A big tortoise race!!!

10 metre race should be very exciting. Tortoises started their race and we already see unfair game, Lines begin on 2.4 metres closer to finish then other tortoises. But who knows, we can’t predict the ending. Cubric already passes Lineas on distance – 2.635 metres, time – 0 min 18 secs, and automatically becomes a leader at the beginning of the race. Cubric runs in first minute with 6.642 m/min velocity, and he is very close to finish, and it is what I can’t say about Quadroid, this tortoise goes even in wrong direction. First minute of the race gone and I can say each tortoise has chance to win. Lines goes very confidently in constant velocity – 0.75 m/min, but Cubric is very fast, it is a second minute and he is on 8.804 distance from the start, but Quadroid is even further then start line on 1.24 metres. All people who supported Quadroid are a bit sad, but all of them just waiting for a miracle which will lead him to a victory. And I really see some strange changes in the race!!! It is 2 minutes 19 seconds of the race and Cubric, who is on 8.82 metres from the start, changes his direction!!! No one can understand the reason why he does it; he was so close to winning the race! Also there are changes in Quadroids direction, he begins going it in the line of finish on 2nd minute 55 seconds on distans -1.3005 metres from start his velocity now is 0.0012 m/min. On 3 minute 47 secs on distance 5.248 metres Cubric passes Lineas again, but now Cubric goes on wrong direction, that’s sad people, almost all audience supported him. Quardoid passes start line finally! It happens on 5 minute 6 secs of the race, and at this exact minute he also passes Cubric, so now Cubric is behind the start line. Only two tortoises have chance to win this race to my mind, Cubric is too far from finish. Lineas is really strong, he even does not change his velocity. On 5 minute 6 secs he was on 6.225 metres from the start, so I suppose he can win. Quadroid’s acceleration is 0.4 . But Cubric is still the fasters in this race, on 6 minute his velocity is 3.198 m/min. It seems like Cubric is changing his direction again! May be he even will win! On 7 minute 22 secs on -5.79 metres he began going on wright way. Now Cubric goes in very fast velocity – 4.82 m/min. it is a 9^th minute of the race and Lineas is closer than others to the finish. On last minute of the race everything completely changes! On 9.93 metres Quadroid passes Lineas and win the race! This is unexpectable race! With time 10 minutes 4 seconds Quardroid wins, the second is Cubric – 10 minutes 5 sec, and the third is Lineas – 10 min 7 sec.

Question 5

Lina:

I wanted to make this tortoise change its direction and velocity ones during the race.

Equations which didn’t work: d=4+3t; d=4+1t; d=4+0.8t.

Race model:

Quidy:

This tortoise had to change its direction and velocity three times during the race and start going in wrong direction.

Cally:

Cally had to have the most complicated way with 4 changes of direction and velocity. Also it had to have a fast start but then to go wrong way.
