1) What style in clothes do you prefer and why?
I like wearing different kinds of clothes, but certainly clothes should suit you and the occasion.
When I plan what I’m going to wear I usually think what kind of meeting I have. At school we aren’t allowed to wear sport or bright clothes, we have to wear clothes of formal style. Usually I wear a jacket, a blouse (a shirt) and trousers (a skirt). But I don’t like being dressed that way, as many other students. Really I prefer smart clothes to formal. Besides I enjoy wearing sport clothes, because I feel comfortable in it. Jeans are also on my list of likes.
One of my favourite colours is white (green, black, orange…), so I like sweaters, tops and skirts of that colour.
I usually wear comfortable shoes or boots. When I go out I always dress up, because I feel better that way. But when I have an official meeting I wear formal clothes. Of course, I like to look smart and I buy clothes which suit me.
2) Do you follow the latest fashion trends? Why (not)?
PRO I personally pay attention to fashion and I think it’s reasonable. Fashion is something we deal with every day. Even people who say they don't care what they wear choose clothes every morning that say a lot about them and how they feel that day.
Fashion is a thing that we have to keep up with, whether we like it or not. Anyway it’s important to look attractive. But it doesn’t mean that you should be fashion-conscious. It may turn to a waste of money. If a person doesn’t have good taste he is not able to put things together. Trendy people want to stand out in a crowd, but sometimes they don’t look stylish.
CON I personally pay attention to fashion in small doses and I’m sure that this is the only healthy way of approach. The clothes that are presented at the fashion shows are usually inappropriate in a day-to-day life; you cannot wear them at work or to a café. I believe that fashion has almost nothing to do with good taste, so everyone should create his or her own style. I choose things according to my personality and character.
3) What questions would you ask a fashion designer?
Why have you chosen such a profession? What is the difference between fashion and style? What is your favourite trend? What colour is in fashion this season? Is it really important to look stylish?
4) What can you advise a person who wants to change something about his/her style
but doesn’t know how to do it?
If a person wants to change his/ her style, I think it would be nice to get advice of a professional designer though it’s really difficult to do in such a small place as ours. That’s why in my opinion it would be reasonable to surf the Internet and learn as much as possible about modern styles, choose something for yourself and ask your friends to judge your choice.
5) A famous person once said: “Style is knowing who you are and what you want to say.”
Do you agree with this? Why (not)?
Yes, I do. It’s the famous quotation by Eugene Gore Vidal [ɡɔ:r vi’dɑ:l], an American writer known for his essays, novels, screenplays, and Broadway plays.
Fashion has always existed. I think to follow some fashion trend is not always good. I guess every person must be individual. But I’m totally against extraordinary individuality such as: green hairs or piercing all over the body.
In my opinion every person should have his or her own style and it has to be unique. One shouldn’t blindly follow fashion trends, because it’s irrational and besides it’s rather expensive to keep up with the fashions.
