Project:

Gender Equality is one of UNESCO's two global priorities and it is also one of the Millennium Development Goals, with a commitment to promote equality between women and men across the Organization's mandate. Gender Equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for the creation of sustainable and peaceful societies. UNESCOЎЇs recently published report on Gender Equality: Heritage and Creativity vividly demonstrates the need for deeper debate, research and awareness-raising on the need for equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for women and men, boys and girls in the fields of heritage and creativity.

The main purpose of this project is to look into different aspects of life, culture and womenЎЇs reality during one week. The volunteers are expected to improve their ability to learn through reflection and understand the depth and essence of their surrounding and environment. We believe that the depth of reflection determines the quality of the attitude, and the quality of the action that lead to live a smart and meaningful life. Our Gender Equality & Culture Exchange Program is especially focused on building a world, which people can live together friendly, on achieving better gender equality. It also tried hard to empower women and lead women to have a smart life.

Work:

The volunteers will take visit at a village which is close to the Great Wall, meet with the local residents, try to have some discussion about gender equality; do some surveys, try to analyze the result of the surveys and try to find some solutions for the problems the surveys reveal. At the same time learn/ teach the traditional hand crafts as the culture exchange, help local people to develop their own family workshop for life.

School visit and Education: The volunteers will have activity classes with Chinese rural school students, they will work together with Chinese volunteers in the schools to have classes and activities with the students there and also do some repairing work for the school, such as painting the roof, cleaning the school yard, and so on.

An international conference about gender equality will be held as well this year.
