Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in many languages

Christmas is not universally celebrated and there are a number of different dates for Christmas and New Year depending on which calendar is used. For example, Orthodox Christians, who use the Julian calendar,

celebrate Christmas on 7th January.

Mistletoe is a symbol for peace and joy.

The idea originated in the ancient times of the Druids: whenever enemies met under the mistletoe in the forest, they had to lay down their weapons and observe a truce until the next day. From this comes the custom of hanging a ball of mistletoe from the ceiling and exchanging kisses under it as a sign of friendship and goodwill.

As you may have already noticed, we added mistletoe in your newspaper. Feel free to use it!
