MANAGEMENT OF RECREATION AND LEISURE

Management of recreation and leisure is both an art and a science, the principles of which are based on human experience and scientific research. These principles apply equally to the manager of a small local recreation program or a modest boat rental business and to the manager of a huge national forest or a vast and complex theme park. The literature abounds with management styles and strategies, some of which may be better suited then others to the management of recreational facilities and programs. One example is management by objectives (MBO), which usually is described as four-step process: agreement, delegation, evaluation of results, and associated activities.
