  ask for попросить to speak to someone to give you something When I go to a restaurant I always ask for something low fat.
  black out упасть в обморок faint, lose consciousness When he fell off the horse he blacked out.
  break down 1) разбиваться 2) расстраиваться 1) go out of order, cease to function 2) lose control of one's emotions 1) John's car broke down so he had to take the bus. 2) The parents broke down when they heard the bad news.
  bump into наталкиваться to meet someone unexpectedly I bumped into an old friend in the street yesterday.
  call back перезвонить to telephone someone again I he is not at home, I’ll call back again.
  carry on продолжить to continue doing something If I like this course, I’ll carry.. next year.
  catch on войти в моду; завоевать популярность; привиться develop understanding or knowledge of something Bill had never used a computer until he took this class, but he caught on very quickly and is now one of the best students.
  check out (of) отметиться при уходе с работы; выписаться (из отеля)   follow procedures for leaving (a hotel, etc.) Don't forget to take your room key to the front desk when you check out (when you check out of the hotel).  
  cheer up развеселить, поднять настроение help someone feel less worried / depressed / sad Suzie's brother was depressed about not getting a promotion, so she sent him a funny card to cheer him up.  
  chew out отругать, сделать выговор scold someone severely; berate   Tom's father was really angry when Tom didn't come home until 3:00 AM. He chewed Tom out and then said Tom had to stay at home for two weeks.  
  chip in входить в долю; принимать участие (в чём-л.); поддерживать contribute / donate (often money) to something done by a group We're going to buy a birthday cake for our boss and I'm collecting donations. Do you want to chip in?  
  count on рассчитывать depend on; trust that something will happen or that someone will do as expected   I'm counting on you to wake me up tomorrow. I know I won't hear the alarm.  
  cross out вычёркивать, стирать; удалять show that something written is wrong or unnecessary by making an X across it We can't afford to buy everything on your shopping list, so I've crossed all the unnecessary things out.  
  cut back (on) сокращать   use less of something You drink too much coffee. You should cut back.  
  draw up составлять write (contract, agreement, document) An agreement was drawn up and signed by the two parties.
  deal with заняться handle, take care of (problem, situation) The manager is good at dealing with difficult customers.  
  die down успокоиться calm down, become less strong When the applause died down, she started to sing.  
  eat out пойти куда-нибудь поесть to have a meal in a restaurant instead of at home I often eat out with friends at local restaurants.
  get on (well) with уживаться have a good relationship with(somebody) I get on very well with my colleagues.
  get together встретиться meet each other Let's get together for lunch on day.  
  give away oтдать to provide someone with something A German woman gave away all the money to charity.
  drop out выбывать leave school without finishing She decided to go to art school then dropped out after the first term.  
  figure out вычислить understand, find the answer I'm trying to figure out how to assemble the bookshelves.  
  mix something up путать confuse two or more things I mixed up the twins' names again!  
  pass for уходить, покидать to be accepted,as being a particular type of person or thing Her grandmother passed for last year at the age of 93.
  pick up подобрать to take someone somewhere A taxi picked me up and took me to the airport.
  plug in включить to connect something to an electricity Where can I plug in my computer?
  sort out разобраться to decide the problem I complained and the company tried to sort out the problem.
  throw away выбросить to get rid of something If you have something you never use, throw it away
