The amount of responsibility of any individual in a company depends on the position that he or she occupies in its hierarchy. Managers, for example, are responsible for leading people directly under them, who are called subordinates. To do this successfully, they must use their authority, which is the right to take the decisions and give the orders that will allow their subordinates to reach certain objectives. Managers often delegate authorities. This means that employees at lower levels of the company hierarchy can participate in decision-making. The characteristics of management often vary according to national culture, which can determine how managers are trained, how they lead people and how they approach their jobs. For example, in Sweden managers are often women. They consider social qualities to be as important as education. They don’t use as much authority as in other countries and appreciate low-level decision-making. The most important feature of managers from France is possibility to move easily between state and private sectors of economy. They also have a strong sense of hierarchy and power in the company. These managers attach great importance to going through an elitist education system. Many managers agree that an understanding of cultural differences is essential when doing business abroad. Not only lack of knowledge in culture, but in any other things makes communication difficulties between partners abroad. For example, such company as “profile and international business consultancy” helps in international negotiations for better understanding between people in other countries. This company provides classical market and technical information such as analysis of demand and supply, forecast and economic assessment as well as insists in the structure of decision-making in different countries. It also gives some advices, for instance: it is important to remember that every country has its own historical heritage which defines the context. So you should always try to understand this context when do business.
