Ex. 1. Read the following sentences and explain why the Present Simple is used here. The prompts are given below.
1. He works in a bank.
2. He takes the train to work every morning.
3. The sun sets in the west.
4. Time passes very quickly when you get older.
5. The plane from Brussels arrives at 8:30.
6. So what you do is … you read the questions first and then you write down your answers in the box. You don’t write on the question paper.
7. Alex doesn’t ring back at midnight … she waits till the morning to ring, and they get annoyed with Liz when she goes on … they know she’s got plenty of money by their standards…..
8. Peter overtakes Williams and wins the race.
9. Do you think that meat is ok to eat? / It doesn’t smell very good.
