Act out the dialogues, illustrating different forms of accepting and refusing invitations.

1.

- We are wondering if you and Mary would like to have a night out with us sometime.

- All right, we'd like that very much. What do you have in mind?

- Well, perhaps we could go for a picture and then have something to eat afterwards.

- That would be great. When?

- We were thinking of Friday.

- That should be OK. I'll have to check with Mary, but I don't think we're doing anything. Thank you for the invitation. David.

2.

- Is that David?

- Yes. how are you?

- Fine. Have you spoken to Mary?

- Yes. I'm afraid we're busy on Friday. We're going to a party, apparently. What are you doing on Saturday?

- Freda's parents are coming over.

- Oh. that's a pity. Some other time then.

- Yes. see you tomorrow.

- See you.

3.

- Charles, what about a game of golf?

- Certainly. Roger. When do you have in mind?

- Well, when would it be convenient for you?

- Saturday. Do you have anything arranged for Saturday morning?

- Yes. I’m afraid I do. Then leaves Saturday afternoon. But you say you're busy.

- Well. I was going to see Perkins, from Marketing, but I could put it off.

- I'd appreciate it if you would.

- Very well. I'll see to it. Until Friday.

4.

- I wonder whether you'd like to go to dawn the Trenton with me tonight. They say the rowing is very good there.

- I'm afraid I can't. You see. I've got a friend staying with me.

- That's a pity. Well, perhaps we could go some other time.

- Yes. I should like to when I'm a bit freer.

5. Accept the invitations. Don't forget to say "thanks".

- Do you feel like walking in the woods?

- I wonder whether you'd like to go yachting with me tomorrow evening.

- How about going surfing this afternoon?

- Would you like to go to a football match with me on Saturday?

- I've got two tickets for a rugby match tomorrow. Would you like to go with me?

- My team is playing against the Stars on Friday. Perhaps you'd like to go with me?

- What about going to the swimming pool after lunch?
