Have you ever met a woman who never touched a broom or a floor cloth in her life? Different women look at the problem differently.
The so-called lady type women have a live-in help. She is good at doing the cleaning and washing, beating carpets and polishing the furniture.
Experienced housewives can do anything about the house. They keep all the rooms neat, dusting the furniture, scrubbing the floor, washing up and putting everything in its place. They are likely to do a thorough cleaning every two weeks.
Another type of woman finds household chores boring. You can often hear her say that she hates doing the dished and vacuuming.
Finally, there are housewives who never do anything themselves. They ask their husbands to buy a dishwasher, a food processor and so on. They often make their relatives help them in the house too.
This is a description of my day. As soon as the alarm-clock went off, I got up and went to our parlour. I did some tummy-trimming exercises and decided to supply my family with breakfast. I perked some coffee, cooked some toast and sliced a couple of oranges. Since it was Saturday I had a thorough cleaning in store for me, which was a great inconvenience because of my recent headaches. Fortunately my niece was so kind as to do it instead of me and I agreed just to go shopping for her.
When I dressed and had a shower I grabbed my purse and went to the neighbouring supermarket. The shopping list contained semi-skimmed milk, some herbs, a bunch of radishes, a packet of salt, and a bar of soap. There was a tin of caviar as well, which was a luxury, that’s why I was eager to know why my niece needed it on an ordinary day.
The reason for that was quite simple. You’ll never believe it, but it was my birthday and my relatives were planning a party in my honour. So, all through the day I had a rest and then, seeing the festive table, I had nothing to do but exclaim, “Well, I never! You ARE a marvellous family!”
After a substantial dinner we sang songs and talked for some time. Then tired and sleepy, I went to bed.
