“Till the heart is tired of loving,
Till hands are tired of creating,
Till eyes are tired of looking,
Till the last step,
Till the last breath…”
Teacher is like an actor: always with people, always in public, always acting; and in order to be an expert of standing reputation he should always develop & improve himself, be hard-working & mainly be devoted to his profession.
Of course, the profession of a teacher is not an easy one. It demands a lot of knowledge, a lot of tenderness of feeling and sometimes a lot of patience. Moreover to teach and to bring up children is the most important and noble thing, to my mind. And chiefly it depends on a teacher what kind of person a child will grow up to be: a genius or a villain. You know teachers are role models so they have to set a fine example & be possessed of some important qualities. For example, if teachers are showing up for lessons without their books children will copy them and use it as an excuse. That’s why being organized and punctual is necessary.
In addition, teachers who are tolerant won’t lose their cool. It’s a simple arithmetic. If teachers don’t lose their cool that means there will be a happy class and a happy class equals more work and learning.
Also, a good teacher is never biased or indifferent and is always kind, understanding and respectful of children. This made everybody feel comfortable and confident. However, just being kind wouldn’t work because we would be able to murder someone right under the teacher’s nose! All teachers need to be strict, even if it’s just a little bit. Otherwise the class would be too disruptive and no one would be able to learn.
What is more, a real teacher must be fair-minded, that means be able to assess students on the basis of performance, not on the students' personal qualities.
It is out of the question, that creativity is irreplaceable for teachers. As most children think school is boring, so lessons should be well structured with lots of different activities to do to avoid such a problem.
Than according to Antoine de Saint “We are answerable for those whom we have tamed”. In my opinion, as well a teacher is responsible for all his pupils. Besides, doctors have a rule: “Don’t do harm”. I think teachers must also follow this rule; because there is nothing more valuable than children and, as I’ve already said, it depends on teachers what kind of people the children will become. So, I guess it is unacceptable for teachers to be rude, lazy, stubborn and, of course, hot-tempered.
Well, to sum up everything I’d say I still believe that if you want to be a teacher you can’t just become a good one. You must be born one. Love for children, an ability to communicate with them, understand and teach them – these are the most important qualities of a genuine teacher. And an ability to be a genuine teacher is God’s gift; it’s a talent like the talent of a writer, an artist or a musician. In my point of view it’s even more – it’s fate. I think a teacher is like a sculptor too: he moulds a personality out of a child like a sculptor creates a beautiful statue out of clay.
