Week 36 / 3th Sept. Simone Stoltz Five domains in museums digital This lecture is the start of a complete module on museums in a digital age. This evening we will explore the scene of all that’s digital. During a working session we will focus on the domains that are of most relevance for museums. Student select the most important fields of digital for museum (workers).
Week 36 / 5th Sept. Simone Stoltz Going mobile After starting this day with a lecture on the mobiles of museums. We will be analysing digital tours in Moscow as part of the assignment given on Thursday. Students analyse existing digital tours of Moscow.
Week 40/ October 2 Anna Mikhaylova History of museum computerisation During the lecture students will gain understanding of how Russian museums were computerised during the last 30 years. We will focus on comparative analysis of museum computerisation in Russian and the US and the UK. We will be also concentrating on texts, which provide us with thorough understanding of a museum in a digital age (Ross Parry, Paul F. Marty, Walter Benjamin, Umberto Eco). Students have to submit a short essay on an ideal museum of a digital age (no more than 1000 words).
Week 40/ October 3 Maria Pravdina   Mikhail Yakovenko Museum databases During this lecture we will be talking about Russian museum databases and explore theory, legal basis as well as practical issues.     Seeking management This lecture will focus on communication between digital managers and IT department in the Russian context Students will practice with collection management systems available in the Open Storage of the Polytechnic museum.   Students will write a short request to IT department describing their need for a new equipment or a special device for an exhibition.
Week 43 / 22nd Oct. Jasper Visser Digital strategy for museums In this lecture we will explore what a digital strategy is, and how this is relevant for museums. Using case studies from leading museums, we will discuss different types of digital strategies, and the various elements of a digital strategy. The lecture also introduces the Digital Engagement Framework and other frameworks for the development of a digital strategy.  
Week 43 / 24th Oct. Jasper Visser In the workshop we will draft the digital strategy for the mobile tour that will be developed as part of the assessment. Looking at the wider context of museums, its audiences, assets and other media, participants will discover the guiding principles for their mobile tour. 1) Students develop a structured and strategic digital outline for the mobile tour 2) Students develop the guidelines and principles for this tour.
October 23 and 24 Anna Mikhaylova and Mar Dixon (Sree Sreenivasan via Skype) Online lecture Marketing media This lecture will focus on Internet marketing and social media. We will be studying marketing basics and then look at how they can be implemented in the Russian context. Students will have to do one of the following tasks: - run a Twitter project, for instance “Museum marathon” - give a Periscpope tour perform SWOT-analysis of a chosen museum
Week 47 / 19th Nov. Theo Meereboer (digital) Storytelling During this lecture we will get to know the act of telling stories. We will focus on communication strategies and work towards digital storytelling.  
Week 47 / 21st Nov Theo Meereboer Working session Today students will present their first outline of the mobile tour they wish to develop. They share, outline, guiding principles and (at least some) examples of used content. During the working sessions students receive feedback and will be guided in evolving their product. Students receive feedback on a first practical outline of their mobile tour.
Week 50/ 11 – 12 Dec. Rob Stein Museum and Digital Strategy: Dallas Museum of Art case study  
Week 50 / 12th Dec. Simone Stoltz and Theo Meereboer Final assignments and presentations This day is all about the final assignment of the module ‘Digital’. During morning sessions we will be sharing last feedback on the mobile tours. During the afternoon sessions, students will be presenting their mobile tours and receive grading instantly. Students are graded on their mobile tour. Students hand in their paper assignment.
