There are two posh restaurants, a coffee shop, a bar, and a spacious cocktail lounge. There is also a swimming pool.

There is no city quite like New York. It is known as the city that never sleeps and is the biggest commercial and cultural centre in the world. Over eight million people live in New York. Manhattan – the heart of the city – is only one of the five boroughs in this great metropolis.

There are thousands of things to do and places to visit for tourists. The most famous landmark must be The Statue of Liberty – a symbol of freedom. The Empire State Building, built in 1931 has a viewing floor at the top. On a clear day you can take spectacular photographs of the city from here, but it is especially magical at night.

Sports fans can watch the world famous teams play baseball, basketball and ice-hockey. You can relax in Central Park, which is larger than Monaco. New York really has something for everyone.

Flying to New York gives you the best vantage point to admire the unique skyline of Manhattan, considered by many to be the most fascinating part of the city. Manhattan is an island, 22 kilometres long and 5 kilometres wide, with all the streets intersecting at right angles. Those running along the island are called avenues, most of which are numbered, while those running across it are streets, which are also numbered instead of being named.

Manhattan was bought from the Indians in 1626 by Dutch colonists for what by today’s standards would be as little as 24 dollars. Later, when the English took over, they built a wall in the southern part of the island to protect themselves from the Indians. Today Wall Street, the world’s most important financial centre, stands here, taking its name from the old wall. It is a district of banks, the famous New York stock market and offices. Broadway is another famous place in Manhattan: it is a long street, running from the south to the north of the city, which is synonymous with theatres, always offering great shows. Most tourists start their Manhattan tour from Broadway and its most famous part, Times Square with its gleaming lights and colourful posters.
