PROJECT:Politeia Vox is an association composed mainly of young people, who for some time have been active in the area and have make the social commitment and sharing the most important aspect of every action they take. The area of this project is a park which is in state of abandon. Its location, far from the center and without recreational facilities, rather than being a meeting place and social life is, instead, a context of deterioration and youth isolation. The aim of the workcamp is to restore dignity to the park, to exploit its environmental potential and offer a viable alternative to the youth of the country who otherwise do not find another place of socialization. Another aim, through the intervention of the volunteers, is to raise awareness in the territory to the culture of volunteering to spread similar experiences to many local youngsters.

WORK: The activities consist mainly of renovation and recovery of green areas within the site. Volunteers will work together with local people and will carry out work such as: arrangement of intern pedestrian paths, garden maintenance, painting perimeter railing, arrangement of bathrooms; creation of jogging trails and picnic areas, or similar activities. The work can be tiring, and the place where the activities take place is 5/10 minute by walk. Volunteers will work on average 5 hours per day in day times to be agreed together. Furthermore, other activities for inclusion and socialization among the volunteers and the local youth will be organized, including: cultural meals, exchanges of experience and best practies, multicultural dinners and moments of sharing.

ACCOMMODATION The participants will be accommodated in a large structure in the upper part of the town. The accomodation is equipped with beds, showers, hot water, kitchen, fridge and toilet. Volunteers will be able to cook themselves within that structure. There are several bedrooms to allow a comfortable accommodation for the needs of the participants; the toilets are shared on the first floor. From accommodation to the workcamp it is possible to go by foot in a few minutes. In the surroundings there are supermarkets, greengrocers and other food services and entertainment. The town is adjacent to the accomodation structure and is equipped with a kiosk open every evening.

LOCATION: Solarino (8000 inhabitants, 150 meters above sea level) is a small town located about 15 km north of Syracuse, in a high place, panoramic and healthy. Its position is strategic to easily go to Siracusa, Noto, Ragusa and Catania (http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solarino).
