Frances: God On The Spot

Every so often my “prayer power” is really put on the line by individuals. After my first service at a camp meeting, a number of ministers and laymen came up to me and said, “Frances, will you pray one of your ‘dumb’ prayers for us?” Without a moment’s hesitation, I replied, “Certainly!”

Then they told me the following story:

They had drilled a well during the past week and had hit beautiful spring water, but a rock had been sucked up into the pipe which was down 276 feet, and the water was shut off as a result. Two days of intensive working to get the rock out was to no avail. The well-digging company was coming the next day to take the pipe up, remove the rock and sink the pipe again at a tremendous expense. They asked me to pray and ask God to remove the rock.

Inwardly I think I groaned as I said, “Lord, they really put my faith on the spot, don’t they?” And I had no more than said this when I realized they weren’t putting me on the spot at all, they were putting God on the spot. At this moment the paraphrased scripture in Malachi came to my mind: “Try me, test me, prove me, and I will open the windows of Heaven and shower down blessings far greater than you can contain,” and that’s just exactly what I did.

A large circle had formed for the prayer, and I made a firm statement. “If there is anyone in this circle who doesn’t believe that God can get that rock out of there, get out of the circle, because I don’t want any unbelievers in it.” Some stepped out, and when the circle was re-formed, I merely prayed this simple little prayer: “God, this is your money. You can spend it to have the pipe taken up and put down again, or you can use it to win souls to Jesus Christ by merely getting the rock out. I don’t know how you’re going to do it, Lord, but thank you anyway.”

Right now I’m wondering if I even believed it myself. There are times when I pray automatically because this is what I know God wants me to do, and I don’t believe I even think at the moment as to whether or not He will do it, I only know that His Holy Spirit has told me to pray.

Just then a pastor came up and asked me to go and pray for an individual with multiple sclerosis, and while I was walking to the car, I heard a mighty shout go up — they had turned the pump on, and the water was shooting out like a fire hose! No more rock!

The fabulous thing about God is we never really understand how He works — we just know that He does!

We have seen tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of healings during the short few years we have had the baptism with the Holy Spirit, some small, some great, but all of God! This is just a quick panorama of God’s glory as we soared over a short period of the past. Think of the glory of God just ahead as we look forward with eyes of faith to the greater things Jesus will be doing through the totally yielded Body for this end-time ministry of the Holy Spirit.

We estimate that up until a year before the writing of this book, approximately twenty percent of the people we ministered to were healed miraculously. Then it was as if God turned a page in a book one night and about ninety-five percent were instantly healed! We talked about this fantastic night of miracles and said, “God, would you let this happen again sometime?”

God gives exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ever ask or dream, and He has never stopped this giant flow of miracle healings. We continue night after night to see 80 to 95% healed. We will never be satisfied until 100ѕ are healed, because this often happened to Jesus, and He said we would do the same things He did, and even greater things!

Glory...glory...glory...and on and on goes the glory of God and Christ Jesus as they swiftly move toward the end...from glory to glory!
