On the one hand … on the other hand …
If a person you are talking to is not logical:
- What has it got to do with the problem?
- What has it got to do with the thing we are discussing?
- It doesn’t follow from what you said before.
- You are repeating yourself.
- It doesn’t make sense
- It doesn’t prove a thing.
- That isn’t true to fact.
If a person you are talking to ignores facts:
- Let’s take facts.
- Stick to facts.
- There is no getting away from the fact that …
- Take into consideration the fact that …
If your opponent is talking sense and you are convinced:
- It stands to reason.
- Right you are.
- I agree with you.
- There is something in what you say.
If your opponent says things you don’t quite agree with:
- It’s a matter of opinion.
- That’s all very well but …
- You are painting it too black.
- You are carrying it too far.
If your opponent says something he didn’t mention before:
- It’s quite a different thing.
- That makes all the difference.
- Now you are talking

When expressing an opinion, it is common to begin the statement with a phrase signaling that it is an opinion.
