Stop the fire

Paint

· First of all I have to prepare surface

· Chip of rust and scare loose paint with the help of chipping hummer or sandblaster.

· Prime the surface.

· Grind the surface.

· Apply several coats of paint with brush or roller.

· The final step is drying the painted surface.

The outfit required for this job:

· Boiler suit

· Goggles

· Helmet

· Gloves

· Safety shoes

· Respirator

Bridge Watch

· Watch keeping is teamwork and must be organized to meet special requirements of the vessel. All bridge team members must do everything possible to navigate ships safely and ensure safety of the crew. Environment and cargo delivery.

· At all times there must be lookout on the bridge.

· During daylight hours when the watch keeping officer is the only lookout – his watchman must be available to come to the bridge as soon as possible. The officer of the watch must know where his watchman is and how he can contact him.

· During the hours of darkness a lookout will be provided on the bridge, bridge wing, or other places if the watch keeping officer orders.

· The lookout may leave the bridge to call the watch, carry out safety rounds or other tasks as required only if they are for short periods of time when the watch keeping officer will give all his attention to keep sharp lookout.

Helmsman

· Course alterations should be ordered by indicating to the helmsman the direction and rudder angle.

· The execution of helm orders must be closely monitored by the watch keeping officer.

· All orders and courses should be repeated in a loud and clean manner.

Type of fire

· It is important to find out the type fire because if you fight with a fire in incorrect way, it can only increase the danger.

· Class A Fire of solid materials usually of organic nature such as wood, paper, furniture, plastics, rope, etc.

· Class B Liquids oils, paraffin, petrol, paint, cooking fats.

· Class C Gases: propane, butane, acetylene.

· Class D Metal constructions.

· Class C Electrical fires.

 

Stop the fire

· If you remove heat-ignition, fuel, oxygen, the fire will stop.

· You can use different type of fire extinguishers.

· Water. Use on wood, paper, plastics. DO NOT USE on fires involving liquid (oils, paints, fats, etc.) and fires where there is live electricity.

· Foam. Use on liquid spills and liquid fires of oils, paints (Class B). DO NOT USE on fires where there is live electricity.

· Dry Powder for liquids (Class B fires) and high pressure gas flame (Class C) and live electrical equipment (Class E)

· CO₂ gas is stored as a liquid under pressure. Use on Class A, B, C, E. Not effective outside.
