Problems of cheating in American public schools
They say that today in America is the era of high-stakes testing - scores are increasingly tied to everything from educator’s job security and salaries to student’s promotion and graduation. Such reforms are part of a nationwide movement to boost quality and to hold educators accountable for student achievement. But because of this reform there has been an increase in educators cheating on standardized exams.
And is such a case the one who loses the most is the student. If a teacher cheats that it is very easy for them to justify cheating themselves.
Some people say that the test – not teachers are to blame. The major problem, probably, is the inappropriate use of standardized exams. Some states give performance-based bonuses to schools who’s pupils succeed in exams, and threaten intervention and even closure to those, who’s pupils do not. This sometimes drive teachers to boost scores. That is why the only way to stop cheating is to return tests to their appropriate role, not as an absolute determinate of kid’s progress but as one source of information, to be judge в in conjunction with things like grades and teacher’s judgements.
